• Manga History of Japan

    Hi fellow manga-philes,

I hope someone is out there still reading.

I did spend money on a Manga History of Japan going back
quite aways and detailing some of the events and people who
were historically important. It does not mention our Jocular
Fellow following the way of Tea in an amusing way in
Hyougemono. But the art is excellent and the format reminds
me of the old saying "What I tell you 3 times is True." which
my mother employed to no great advantage with me. But the
istory is outlined then reiterated in 2 other summations.
It was not a waste of money.
I think it was commissioned by the publisher Tuttle
www.tuttlepublishing.com and supervised by Shunichiro Kanaya.
It was about $17.00. I got mine thru The Right Stuff International
but I read that Tuttle publishes in across the work. This ia an
American company founded in 1832. 190 years in business.
One of the back cover blurbs is incorrect. It says the Samurai
were loyal to the Shogun (who had be deposed years before).
It was in protest of the changes in the Status of the Samurai
that motivated their rebellion. No more government support and
no more wearing swords in public.

I have other stuff to review but biographic historical
novels about the "Queen of Harlem" do not seem to fit here anymore
than "Batman the Detective" comic would. Both are good stories
    with excellent art.
