Out of curiosity, I did a 46656-trial rollout with XG to see
how often it won an undoubled gammon at 2-away post-Crawford
after opening with 8/5 6/5 and having the opponent respond
with 24/18 13/10. The answer was about 4.5%, which was higher
than I expected.
I once asked on BGOnline whether anyone had experienced this
sort of thing in an actual tournament, and Bob Koca said that
he once won a match that way. It must happen more often at
lower levels when the trailer simply forgets to double.
