When the 1997 Great Comics Switcheroonie happened, 1 paper - The Chicago Sun-Times - refused to run the switcheroonie strips (But ran the Sally Forth switcheroonie strip) for some reason.

Too bad Charles Schulz (Peanuts) and Patrick McDonnell (Mutts) were signed for the switcheroonie but backed out for some reason,

Didn't they ran Drabble too (with Fagan drawing with his other hand)?

No, the Chicago Sun-Times didn't even run that Drabble strip that April 1, 1997 day.

Don't you wish newspapers.com added the Chicago Sun-Times papers from 1960's-present so we can see proof?

If they can add the Cincinnati Post several years after the E------r, anything can be possible.

I can't believe Schulz signed up to have someone else draw Peanuts.

From what I learned, Charles Schulz almost did, but when Mutts creator Patrick McDonnell didn't think it was a good idea but backed out, Schulz decided to back out as well.

There was a rumor if Schulz and McDonnell did take part in the Switcheroonie, Schulz would have done the April 1, 1997 Mutts strip and McDonnell would have done the April 1, 1997 Peanuts strip.

However, in 1999, the dog from Mutts did cameo in a Peanuts comic strip.
