A child molester who thought he had had his crimes covered for
over three decades will now spend time in jail.
A 74-year-old former school teacher who thought he could cover
his tracks by quitting his job after sexually assaulting the
four teenage boys in the 1980s, has been caught up with his past.
John Patton will now face jail time after some of the victims
came out to report of the abuse they suffered in his hands.
After he was indicted in the assaults, Patton quit his job,
leading a 'blameless life' as he tried to live down what he had
done and distance himself from his sick urges, the Mirror
reports.
But the former language teacher’s offences finally came to light
after one of his victims went to the police last year, after
which the other three came forward.
Patton had earlier this year pleaded guilty to the crimes of
indecently assaulting boys in the early 1980s.
But after seeing a newspaper report, the fourth victim also
contacted the police, as a result of which Patton, who had been
a teacher at Kingshurst School in Chelmsley Wood at the time,
admitted two further charges.
During sentencing, Judge Peter Carr warned him:
"The most likely outcome is custody. The only question is the
length."
