Acting ICE Director Tom Homan defended President Donald Trump's
use of the word "animals" to describe brutal MS-13 gang members,
and he said the term actually doesn't go far enough.
"Animals kill to survive. MS-13 kills for sport, to terrorize,"
Homan said on "Fox & Friends" on Thursday.
He said anyone who wants to question Trump for doubling down on
calling MS-13 animals should speak to the parents of the gang's
victims, many of whom were murdered in gruesome ways, including
being hacked to death with machetes.
"Imagine being a parent living the rest of your life knowing
your child ... was killed in such a manner," said Homan, who is
retiring next month.
Homan called out the overheated rhetoric by Democrats against
the president and against ICE for going after MS-13 and criminal
aliens. He singled out Rep. Yvette Clarke, a Democrat from
Brooklyn, for standing outside an ICE office in January and
comparing agents to the Gestapo secret police in Nazi Germany.
"We're enforcing the laws Congress enacted, but yet we're
Nazis?" he asked, accusing Clarke and others of vilifying "sworn
law enforcement officers" who are carrying out federal law.
Homan appeared Wednesday alongside President Trump, Homeland
Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, Deputy Attorney General Rod
Rosenstein and local law enforcement officials at a roundtable
in Nassau County, N.Y., on combating the MS-13 threat.
