A California official who is opposed to the state's sanctuary
law blasted Gov. Jerry Brown (D) for his latest broadside at
    President Trump.

A group of law enforcement officers and lawmakers, including
Orange County supervisor Michelle Steel, attended a roundtable
Tuesday at the White House focused on the state's controversial
    policy toward illegal immigrants.

Brown took aim at Trump for "lying" about the problem and
mischaracterizing the law, which limits cooperation between
    local authorities and ICE.

    Jerry Brown
    ?
    @JerryBrownGov
?? @realDonaldTrump is lying on immigration, lying about crime
and lying about the laws of CA. Flying in a dozen Republican
politicians to flatter him and praise his reckless policies
changes nothing. We, the citizens of the fifth largest economy
in the world, are not impressed.

Steel said Brown's tweet was "totally misleading," arguing the
meeting was not about opposition to immigration in general.

"We are talking about illegal criminals, especially MS-13 gangs.
We are supposed to put these criminals out of this country so we
can be safe. ... He's not doing his job," she said on "America's
Newsroom," calling on Brown to work toward lowering taxes and
    removing regulations for businesses.

Steel, born in South Korea, previously explained on Fox News
that she was verbally attacked as a "racist" for opposing
Brown's policy. She said it's a "public safety" issue, since 66
percent of those released in California re-offend.

"That meeting was wonderful. ... It was very, very productive,"
said Steel, adding that Attorney General Jeff Sessions and DHS
Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen listened to their concerns.

The Orange County Board of Supervisors voted in March to join
the Justice Department's lawsuit challenging the sanctuary
    policy.
