Hotel Transylvania: Transformania Pushed Back to October
--------------------------------------------------------
Sony's Hotel Transylvania: Transformania will no longer release
on July 23 as originally planned.
The fourth and final Hotel Transylvania feature will now release
this fall on October 1. It's a delay of slightly over two months
and will mean that it releases in a healthier theater market as
there are still capacity restrictions at many locations. This
also follows Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway underperforming in its
domestic release. It is also no longer releasing the same day as
Universal's Old and Paramount's Snake Eyes but now goes up
against The Addams Family 2 and the Dune reboot.
Hotel Transylvania: Transformania is directed by Jennifer
Klushka and Derek Drymon from a screenplay written by franchise
creator Genndy Tartakovsky, who was previously attached to helm
the fourth installment after directing the first three films.
The film will be executive produced by Tartakovsky and Michelle
Murdocca with Alice Dewey Goldston set as a producer.
The fourth film will no longer feature Adam Sandler as the lead
and voice of Dracula, after voicing the character in the first
three films. Now taking over the character is Brian Hull, who
previously voiced the character in the recently released short
film Monster Pets. Selena Gomez, who has voiced Mavis in each
film, is returning for the final installment and will now serve
as executive producer.
The most recent entry in the series, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer
Vacation, debuted this past summer to the tune of $167.5 million
domestically, nearly matching the second film in the series.
Worldwide the film brought in $528.5 million, the highest of the
franchise which has brought in $1.36 billion worldwide across the
three films.
