From Lenona@21:1/5 to All on Wed Aug 16 12:11:13 2023
His birthday was on July 12th. (Oddly, I can't find any tributes.)

He was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1978, 1980, 1994, and 2002.

    He illustrated many fantasies.

"Anton & the Dragons" is about the world-famous Catalan Art Nouveau architect Antonio Gaudi, whose work can be seen all over Barcelona.

    Translation:

Niels-Christian "Fibben" Hald, born July 12, 1933 in Orrefors, Kalmar county, is a Swedish illustrator and cartoonist. He is the son of Edward Hald.

Fibben Hald debuted in 1963 as a children's book illustrator in Lennart Hellsing's The cat blew silver horns. His children's book illustrations are characterized by humor and playfulness. He works with small means and allows his images to have a profound
effect. He does not believe in special illustrations for children, his pictures become pictures for all ages.

Fibben Hald has illustrated several of Lennart Hellsing's books, including Fable from Babel (1974), The Egg (1978), Vitt (1984), Tom Trumpetarson (1988) and Att handla är necessary (1991). In autumn 2000, Annika Holm's book Anton och drakarna was
published, which is illustrated by Fibben Hald. He has been awarded many prizes and awards, including the Elsa Beskow plaque in 1964, the Litteraturfrämjandet's big prize in 1978 and Rabén & Sjögren's drawing scholarship in 1979. He is also
represented with sculptures in public environments, for example the Dance around the fir tree in Luxparken at Lilla Essingen in Stockholm. Hald is represented at, among others, the National Museum[1] in Stockholm and the Nordic Watercolor Museum[2].

    Translation:

Fibben Hald, born in 1933 in Småland, is one of our most ingenious cartoonists.
In 1963, he debuted as a children's book illustrator in Lennart Hellsing's The cat blew his silver horn. Already here is the humor, playfulness and mood painting that he then developed to perfection.
Fibben Hald is an artist who works with small means and allows his images to have a profound effect. He does not believe in special illustrations for children with lots to look at and tailored messages. He draws according to his own temperament and
trusts the child's ability to perceive subtle events. And of course it works. In pencil, charcoal, ink and watercolour, he lets the associations flow and his pictures become pictures for all ages.

Fibben Hald has illustrated several of Lennart Hellsing's books, including Fable from Babel, 1974, Ägget, 1978, White, 1984, Tom Tom trumpetarson, 1988, Djurbok, 1989 and autumn 1991 Shopping is necessary. He has also made the pictures in the third part
of Children's Swedish History When Sweden was the greatest, 1989, with text by Sonja Hulth. In 1991 came the wonderful Silk and sawdust, a circus story with text by Annika Holm. In the fall of 2000, Annika Holm's book Anton and the dragons was published,
in which Fibben Halds illustrates the boy Anton and his father walking in Gaudi's Barcelona.

Fibben Hald has been awarded a number of prizes and awards, including the Elsa Beskow plaque in 1964, the Great Prize of the Promotion of Literature in 1978 and Rabén & Sjögren's drawing scholarship in 1979.
