...he has been interested in biology for as long as he can remember. It wasn't until he had a Ph.D. in biochemistry and was doing lab research, however, that he decided he needed to express himself through teaching. He began to take photographs while at
the Smithsonian Institution developing biological exhibits for the lay public. He discovered that "photography opened up new avenues of self-expression as well as exploring and documenting the world."
