Born in Waxahachie, Texas, he now lives in NYC.

He's best known for his film work - such as directing the divorce classic "Kramer vs. Kramer."

But he wrote a book or two for kids as well.

An amazing story: I heard the book "Don't Ever Wish for a 7-Foot Bear" read aloud by my school librarian in 2nd or 3rd grade. MANY years later - maybe even 40 years - in a different town, mind you - I found the very same copy, library markings and all,
in a bookcase at a recycling center!
