• Dennis O'Neil (1939-2020)...more sad news...

From Kevrob@21:1/5 to All on Fri Jun 12 15:03:33 2020
Denny O'Neil, prolific writer and editor for Charlton, Marvel
and memorably for DC, is, alas, no more.

He and editor Julius Schwartz reworked "The Batman" for the
1970s, returning the character to his mysterious roots and
similarly transitioned SUPERMAN for late 20th century readers.
His work with frequent collaborator Neal Adams on the GREEN
LANTERN/GREEN ARROW series was lauded for making comics
    "relevant."

Condolences to his friends and family.

I got to chat with the Den at the Chicago Comicon (or had it
become Wizard World by then?) about his work on that hero who
was operating under the name of "The Question." Even when I
disagreed with his artistic choices he was always fun to read,
    and a gentleman in person.

JLA, The Shadow, Iron Man, TV and more.

He also wrote some SF. For some reason, I would see his _The Bite Of
Monsters_ in bargain bins for years though I never read it. ISFDB
    has some others:

I enjoyed Denny's work on Azrael with Barry Kitson. Only ever read a few of the first issues, but it was good. His work with Batman was very cool in the late 1980s.
