To be honest I thought Millie did okay in the one episode we've seen
her in... it looked to be the start of a promising storyline.
I say cancel the various TV shows that Bradley Walsh is in and bring

Thinking about it, Martha and Donna were companions for one full
season, with some additional guest appearances afterwards. So it
wouldn't be out of character for RTD to do the same thing with Ruby.
One full season and some episodes after, possibly to tidy up loose
ends. The unfortunate thing for Millie Gibson is that one season of
Doctor Who is shorter now than it was back in 2007. Whilst for us the
viewer, we are in the strange position of hearing [rumours] about a
companion leaving when we have only seen Ruby Sunday in one episode
of Doctor Who.

In "Blankety Blank", every contestant gets a chequebook and pen trophy,
even if they also win the bigger prizes ... "bigger" is relative
though. The various hosts of the show over the years have even made the >prizes a joke point.
"Pointless" is another quiz show with relatively minor prizes. Bradley
Walsh often joke about that show in his own quiz shows.
The relaity is that very few TV quiz show actually have big prizes,
especailly in the more budget limited UK. On "The Chase" most

Television today is dumbed-down and nothing more than bubblegum for
the brain. That's why the masses are sleep-walking their way in to >oblivion... stupid game shows, cookery programmes and reality TV
shows featuring 'celebrities' that people have never heard of.
The best thing I've watched recently is "Reacher" (S2) on Prime
Video. The terrestrial television stations like RTE/BBC/ITV (etc.)
could never make a programme like that in 2023... and if they could,
they wouldn't!

Are you TTD in disguise?
More than two people watched "Reacher" Dave, a heck of a lot more.
It was very good. If you were too busy typing gobbledygook on Usenet
to watch it, that's your problem. You missed out on a good show.

Tom Cruise? Most definitely not! Same character though, just played
by a man that actually fits the description of the Jack Reacher in
the novels... i.e. a big fella! Tom Cruise was too small for the role
really. His two Jack Reacher movies were okay, but the Amazon Prime
"Reacher" series is way better.

No, I mean the same ideas done over and over again like your forty
year old games shows. We mentioned "Blankety Blank" and "Gladiators"
but they are not new or original. No talent is required to revive
something just to fill a TV schedule. That's what you get with the >terrestrial TV channels these days, bubblegum for the brain!
A black person in a costume drama doesn't bother me, if the said
drama is enjoyable to watch. If a TV show is boring it doesn't matter
who is in it.
I didn't like Lenny Henry in "Rings of Power", not because Lenny
Henry is black but I don't find him funny and never did, plus his
character "Sadoc Burrows" - and the whole series in fact - was mind
numbingly boring. Black or White Harfoot's are irrelevant when the
whole show was a turgid mess to sit through.
So I focus more on the writers. Some of them might have "woke"
agendas but they should still be capable of writing something
entertaining, which for me should be their job!

And right there is the problem. I would say most writers have
"woke" agendas, and they get hired by show-runners/producers who
also have "woke" agendas that they want pushed. However many of
today's writers can't write to save their lives...but by golly
they're going to push that agenda even if the story and the writing
sucks (and they really don't know that their writing sucks...as
long as the producer is getting what they want, the writers are
safe). The bad writing leads to a show that isn't entertaining.
I once heard Gary Burghoff (Radar O'Reilly in "MASH") say, "The
entertainment comes first...the 'message' comes second." If you
think about it, that's why shows like MASH, All in the Family, ST:
TNG, ST: DS9, et al. were so popular: they were WELL written first
and foremost, and in many cases the individual stories also had
egalitarian messages intertwined with a good story. A large number
of today's writers can't do that...as long as the agenda is being
pushed, they think they're doing a good job.

Yes! There has always been agendas and box ticking... the original
"Star Trek" from the 1960's had a pretty much 'one of everything
cast' and there were plenty of moral issues depicted in the stories.
However, the episodes were still [generally] entertaining and even
after all these years, still enjoyable to watch. I doubt anyone will
be watching "Rings of Power" in 2073 and calling it a classic TV

Writers today are just lazy and they think that if they push a cause
or agenda that's all they have to do, the producers then give them a
pat on the back... and the writers forget about writing.

I don't mind the lack of originality if it's entertaining,
but a lot of the time it isn't!
By re-hashed do you mean filled with vile woke race, gender, and
identity politics which is racist, sexist, and bigoted by design,
insulting to the audience, and which was never in the originals and
totally anachronistic to the period the shows are set.
No, I mean the same ideas done over and over again like your forty
year old games shows. We mentioned "Blankety Blank" and "Gladiators"
but they are not new or original. No talent is required to revive
something just to fill a TV schedule. That's what you get with the terrestrial TV channels these days, bubblegum for the brain!

Wrong.
You lose all suspension of disbelief when a black or Asian
person is chosen to play a white historical figure like Isaac
Newton,
Anne Boleyn, Cleopatra, or Achilles. Race swapping

The fact that the last few Doctor Who episodes got more viewers than >Coronation Street tells you all you need to know about the standard
of Coronation Street these days.

And right there is the problem. I would say most writers have "woke" >agendas, and they get hired by show-runners/producers who also have
"woke" agendas that they want pushed. However many of today's writers
can't write to save their lives...but by golly they're going to push
that agenda even if the story and the writing sucks (and they really
don't know that their writing sucks...as long as the producer is getting
what they want, the writers are safe). The bad writing leads to a show
that isn't entertaining.
I once heard Gary Burghoff (Radar O'Reilly in "MASH") say, "The
entertainment comes first...the 'message' comes second." If you think
about it, that's why shows like MASH, All in the Family, ST: TNG, ST:
DS9, et al. were so popular: they were WELL written first and foremost,
and in many cases the individual stories also had egalitarian messages >intertwined with a good story. A large number of today's writers can't
do that...as long as the agenda is being pushed, they think they're
doing a good job.

I doubt anyone will
be watching "Rings of Power" in 2073 and calling it a classic TV
series!!!

The writers who are chosen are the ones who are lazy and lacking in
talent because they are chosen over far better writers because they push
the same vile woke agenda advocated by the executive producers, show
runners, and broadcasters. You're not going to get good writing until
wokery is excised from the entertainment industry completely and hiring
is based on merit rather than political leaning, skin colour, gender,
and sexuality.

There's nothing wrong with Blankety Blank or Gladiators. They are
classics. Being new doesn't necessarily make something better. 99% of
new ideas today are complete s*t, because woke retards thing they can
write better than the classics such as those written by Shakespeare,
Dumas, Dickens, Doyle, Verne, and Wells, and get away with it by filling >everything with woke excrement.
A black person in a costume drama doesn't bother me, if the said

Wrong. You lose all suspension of disbelief when a black or Asian person
is chosen to play a white historical figure like Isaac Newton, Anne
Boleyn, Cleopatra, or Achilles. Race swapping historical characters,
real or not real is fundamentally racist and intolerable. Race swapping >Nelson Mandela would be unacceptable, so why was Isaac Newton race
swapped by Retard T. Davies?
I didn't like Lenny Henry in "Rings of Power", not because Lenny
Henry is black but I don't find him funny and never did, plus his
character "Sadoc Burrows" - and the whole series in fact - was mind

The fact that Lenny Henry was in it was an instant warning that it was
going to be crap, because you knew by that that the bigoted and racist
woke agenda was put before good writing. The writers were so bad and
totally incompetent that the only way they could sell the show was
through woke virtue signalling.
So I focus more on the writers. Some of them might have "woke"
agendas but they should still be capable of writing something
entertaining, which for me should be their job!
Woke writers can't write, period! Forcing someone to insert unchallenged
woke ideology into what they write, and forbidding them to write strong
male characters, or include a heroic journey, or heterosexual romance
and feminine female characters, in order to appease far-left
lesbian-feminist bigots who despise everything masculine or feminine
makes them write like 6 year old children with autism.

Well I'm not wrong if it doesn't bother ME!!! Which it rarely does.
I've told you before, I watch TV to be entertained... I can go down
the pub and put money in to a cap/bucket if I want to do politics.

If "mavity" is being used I'm still going with 'alternate universe'
on that one!
People not knowing the word "gravity" kind of foreshadows something
like that...
Anne Boleyn, Cleopatra, or Achilles. Race swapping
At a guess I'd say the real Cleopatra wasn't as white as Elizabeth
Taylor!!!
I haven't seen anyone play a black Achilles as I hate all that Greek
shit. (Sorry!) I even used play as the "Norse" in "Age of Mythology"
just so I could defeat Artemis, Hades & Co.
But I'll take your word for it that Achilles wasn't an oily skinned
Greek that liked to spit and smash plates...

Ahead of its time.
On-screen kisses are controversial.... look at how upset some of the
anoraks got in 1996 with the TVM!
Carry on going through the RADW archive and you will read all about
