    Hi all,

Today I decided to download all the headers from this gout because
I'm going to setup a new PC and I'm not sure if the later Agent usenet
programs will allow me to copy the database to the new machine
unlike Agent 1 which will so I downloaded them into Agent 1.

The earliest post was July 2003. Lots of post up until 2009 where
spam and porn post became the norm up until 2012 when the spam seemed
to have stopped. I can under stand at that point why people posted
way less and I assume other online methods replaced usenet.

From about 2014 the posts get a lot less until this year and there
has not been much at all.

I now have about 1200 downloaded posts to go thru and reminisce over
the next few weeks. So real interesting post back in those days..

I still pull headers every day, but you're right, there's not much
    going on.

Still checking this group but not much going on (as is the case for most
of Usenet Groups). But still, once in a while, there's something
    worthwhile posted!

Yes, this. There is still occasional traffic.

Hey Scott. I remember you were a regular poster here back in the

I look, never likely to make an on-topic post though because I don't
know much about the topic, just interested to listen in.

The slow death is replicated over most of the Usenet groups that I
subscribe to. Looking through archives, there are many that had a
topic like this started ten years ago, and a group of old regulars
chimed in. But then another five or more years of silence began, and
by the next time someone finally posted a topical question they'd all
seemingly left and none are ever heard from again (probably no longer
    checking Usenet at all).

Yes there are parts of usenet that have basically died. I wonder
where this type of discussion group went to . There's a couple on FB
that I watch but I look at FB far less than usenet.

I, too, miss coming home at night and firing up my newsgroup reader to see what has been posted in RAMT. It was the one stop shopping for film tech and film tech history. Eventually, facebook and other websites changed all that. While more expansive
these new entities and site provide, it does feel as exciting when RAMT was THE place. With expansion of choice came dilution of attention and focus.

A "hi" to all the lurkers here, especially we old timers.

Yes. I still read posts and very occasionally contribute. Internet service providers dropped newsgroup access which acellerated the change from plain
    text to html browsing.

Lots of useful stuff discussed and knowledgeable technical sound and cine
posts on here over the decades I have been following. I am glad I paid attention.
