    Fifty three years ago. Hard to believe. Seeing the WTC in pop culture still comes
    as a bit of a shock. The towers were under construction at the time of writing, they weren't occupied until December 1970.

    As a (former) New Yorker who used to work in their shadow, the artist played fast and loose with Manhattan geography for this cover. Hint: The sun is appearing in the north.

    Perhaps that isn't the Sun (nuclear fireball below the horizon? asteroid
    hit, same?).

    I suppose it could be a dome, under which some rich people
    unlawfully attempted to exempt themselves from the environmental
    catastrophe... something like that was actually an incident in the
    novel.
