    patriotic siren call to visit France amid World War I. ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT delivers its familiar anti-war lessons in a beautiful,
    violent production that won the Best Foreign Picture Oscar. Even if
    that war's primitive underpinnings no longer stand as revelation, the
    candid history remains compelling. Recommended.

    It was the original that infuriated the Nazis and that lead to Hollywood hiring a Nazi consultant. What a history.
