    A Work of Art

I tried to write a work of art
With all my passion, all my heart,
But no idea of what to say
    Or what I wanted to convey;
My plans were doomed, and fell apart.

    It really wasn't very smart
To take this trek without a chart:
    Spontaneous writing's fine for play
But one cannot make art that way,
I should have realized from the start.

I cannot make a work of art,
because I’m simply not that smart.
I know what I would like to say,
but nothing comes out the right way.
My book won’t sell at the Walmart.

I'm smart. I write a work of art
Most every time I have a fart
For farting makes me think of cheeses,
Cheeses make me think of Jesus ...
    Thus my wisdom I impart.

I'll grant you, it does fizzle out some near me end.

Most things would die if they were near your rear end.

That said, why didn't you make that comment in the first place, instead of seconding that it was excellent? It isn't excellent and needs work. Did you read the poem?

Because George was making a joke, it was a parody of a well known Usenet poet.

    HTH and HAND.
No names please... we have a truce....!
We do not have a truce. We have a cease fire.

Of course it's dependent upon whether you continue to flood the group with posts every day.

So far, I haven't seen so many -- but that might be due to the fact that most of Will's and your threads have been blocked.

I was told that you'd made over thirty the other day.

Let's try to keep it down to twenty-five.
I'm sure glad you don't think you can tell me what to do, Pendragon, you shit slinging litte monkey.

No one has tried to tell you what to do.

I know, and I'm fine with that.

    🙂

    Quite an excellent short poem....

Thanks. It's nothing special, just light verse, but I think it belongs
in the revision. I don't think I'll be replacing "3 a.m." with it,
probably using it to start off the next page; I'd need a short poem to
fill that off, but I could use a limerick; I've written a lot of those,
but they're not well represented in the book. This section, full of
light verse, would be the best place for them.

    Definitely worth preserving.
