As a warm up for national Poetry Month, starting at Midnight tonight, I
found an interesting poet while looking for something else last night, Jon >> Steinmetz.

His first poem on this page, "Kitten", catches a glimpse of a world long
gone, a theme Steinmetz returns to often, it appears:

"This is a poem based on a photo I found in a depression-era book. It
    shows
a man in a saloon with a kitten next to him, in Craigville, Minnesota..."

Later on the page is his take on "the day the music died", with a poem
    called "Mankato Winter, 1959":

    The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens
    and Buddy Holly,
    on the tour called
    the Winter Dance Party.

    [...]

    They left for Moorhead
8 days after they played their radio hits
where the outside walls were of stucco and pink.

Any other information on him, anyone?

I did a search for him, and I think this is his new site?

If this is the same Jon Steinmetz, he is far more nuanced than CapGun or NaziGmen...

Another relatively obscure poet, Jon Steinmetz, worth remembering and archiving.

    HTH and HAND.
