    Star Trek novels are not canon, despite being officially authorized; they're not
    checked for consistency with each other, and new shows aren't bound by them.

    Why can't the "Star Trek" franchise be back under Paramount? Why does it have to be under CBS?

    At this stage it no longer matters who owns it. The "Star Trek"
    franchise was destroyed some years ago by the two idiotic 'reboot'
    attempts and there's no hope of resurrecting it now. :-(

    Simply because they merged.

    maybe it's a good thing because with the previous term, CBS wasn't allowed to use all the visual, that's why the uniforms and ships where different. Maybe the look will be more in line with the non kelvin universe
