Hi folks, its been a while. I just want to let you know that my book 'Bad Water' (formally known as 'The Ark') has finally been published. I'm pretty sure I whinged about here for a while. I wrote the first draft a long time ago.
It's here, if you are interested: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bad-Water-N-M-Browne-ebook/dp/B08QW7DKYC/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=nm+browne&qid=1612265786&sr=8-1

    Conga rats!

I finally wrote _The Golden Road_, but it's sitting on my agent's
desk while he tries to find the time to read it.

OTOH I finally succumbed to pressure and put some of my old stuff
    online, at www.kithrup.com/~djheydt/ .

TGR isn't online yet; I haven't yet *completely* given up hope
    that somebody might buy it.

Wouldn't it be fun if rasf-c rose from the dead?

I just read Patricia's blog on great books <https://pcwrede.com/pcw-wp/thinking-about-greatness-in-books/>

There are many great things blushing unseen. In Woods Hole one year I
saw an artist who will go down in history as a mere vendor of
souvineer tat. I went to an exhibit that included exceedingly ugly
horse-shoe crabs, colored to blend in with the slimy mud under the
bay. Then I went to a T-shirt shop and learned that if you can see
past the color, horseshoe crabs are beautiful.

Isn't changing how one sees the world the definition of art?

Another artwork is Medrith Glover's "peacock dish cloth" knitting
pattern. This is *real* performance art! The result of following the
pattern is a rather nice doily, one copy of which is displayed in my
parlor on the back of the love seat. But to appreciate the pattern,
you have to knit it -- for best results, using a pattern illustrated
by a small, low-resolution picture so that the details come as a
surprise. ("Oh, my stars, this little guy has *scales* on his legs!")

But to count as a great book, a book must have enough sales to leave a permanent mark on the culture, so that references to it will be
understood by people who have never read it.

Popularity is necessary, but not sufficient.

Indeed it would - but too many people have moved away?

Those conga-rats must be the grandkids of the original troupe. ;)

    But yes, congradulations.
