_The Aquatic Effect_

I had wanted to see the two acclaimed Solveig Anspach-Florence Loiret-Caille collaborations forever. _The Aquatic Effect_ ("Together Project" on amazon) certainly lives up to the expectation! I really like stories where the characters are bestowed with imagination. In that sense, this film reminds
me of the Faye Wong vignette in _Chungking Express_. Loiret-Caille has
long a favorite of mine -- she excels in everything, comedies, tragedies, horror, but usually as supporting actress -- and she is sublime in a rare
lead role here. This film appears to be a sequel to _Queen of Montreuil_, which I hope I have a chance to see some day. (Neither is on DVD -- not with English subtitles anyway.) Sadly director Anspach passed away not long
ago, and there would not be a third film featuring these characters.
