The news is not exactly hot off the presses - it is at least
several months old. But it is yet to make the first page - and,
personally, it wouldn't be a surprise if it never does. And the
reason is not that it is not newsworthy by any normal person;s
definition.
So here is the story. Ed Buck, an influential Democratic party
donor, is believed to have strange tastes in his private life.
He is alleged to be fond of inviting young Black gay men to his
residence and offer them money for their company, with a bonus
available for agreeing to be injected with crystal meth for Mr
Buck's viewing pleasure. Such are the allegations, and I can not
speak to their accuracy.
It is, however, a fact of life that in the last two years two
men ended up dying at his residence. The cause of death is
believed to be a drug overdose. The circumstances of their
deaths are unusual to say the least.
Now, let us give Buck the benefit of a doubt. He has not been
tried, let alone found guilty of any wrongdoing. But as far as
allegations go - well, after we have witnessed the whole
Kavanaugh theatre - wouldn't you say this relative silence of
the mainstream media is deafening?
It is an important story, and I think we need to keep it alive.
Coincidentally, this is also the best way to ensure this matter
is properly investigated. And investigated it must be.
