• UC Berkeley Bans White People from Community Garden

One of the most progressive and socially liberal schools in the country is cultivating controversy as it faces accusations of racism after it allegedly banned white residents from accessing a community farm on Saturdays.

Gill Tract Community Farm in nearby Albany has designated Saturdays
exclusively for use by 'Black, Indigenous, and People of Color' (BIPOC) after
a complaint was filed with the US Department of Education by the Mountain States Legal Foundation. The move has been denounced by some as an example of 'systemic racism'.

Gill Tract Farm was established in 2013 through a partnership between UC-Berkeley and the local communities it serves as a site for urban farming research. Part of the farm's ethos is to support the 'food justice' movement
by cultivating crops for healthy meals.

William Trachman, general counsel for the Mountain States Legal Foundation has criticized the university's stance. "UC-Berkeley thinks that racial
segregation is progressive now, but it's no different than segregation of the past," Trachman told the New York Post. "Preventing Caucasians from accessing Berkeley's College of Natural Resources Farm on Saturdays is a clear violation of Title VI, which bars educational institutions from engaging in or allowing race discrimination."

Trachman is calling for a comprehensive investigation into all UC-Berkeley programs to address what he has described as 'systemic racism'. UC-Berkeley
has said they were unaware of the discrimination complaint until being contacted by the media.

"Saturdays are exclusively BIPOC. Exceptions have only been made for events that are BIPOC-centered and with plenty of advance notice and planning," an email sent by the garden's manager read. "I trust you stand in solidarity with upholding boundaries around that safe and sacred space."

After being contacted about the allegations, a spokesperson for the university denied all knowledge of the farm's special Saturday policy.

"The Gill Tract's website and calendar make no mention whatsoever of any program or activity of the sort described in the complaint. Having said that, the university takes complaints like this extremely seriously and I can assure you that on Monday I will contact the appropriate people on campus in an
effort to determine what the facts are," UC-Berkeley spokesman Dan Mogulof stated.

This controversy emerges against the backdrop of legal challenges to race-conscious admissions policies and diversity programs in higher education institutions, with concerns raised about possible reverse discrimination.

Recently, a federal discrimination complaint was filed against a Minnesota college scholarship exclusively available to black students, with similar claims targeting other race-based exclusionary programs at various institutions.

Last June the US Supreme Court ruled that race-conscious or 'affirmative action' college admissions policies were unconstitutional and had to be shelved.

Programs that appear race-conscious showing greater 'diversity, equity and inclusion' through programs specifically created to advance opportunities for black students and other minorities have since come under legal scrutiny, amid complaints they in fact amount to reverse discrimination.

This not the first time far-left UC Berkeley has harvested controversy when it comes to race. In August 2022 an off-campus co-op for students at the university named the 'Person of Color Theme House' banned white guests from entering common areas of the house. A list of house rules revealed how the occupants were told "many POC moved here to be able to avoid white violence
and presence, so respect their decision of avoidance if you bring white guests".

While the student house aims to have an "inclusive' environment, the rules specifically state 'white guests are not allowed in common spaces'."

The accommodation, located close to Berkeley's campus, was a five-story, 30-room home that can house up to 56 students. The house is owned by a private landlord.

But the 'rules' which were leaked on social media have caused outrage - with many people slamming the restrictions as 'racist' as others came forward and revealed their experience living in the co-op.

The house was set up as part of the Berkeley Student Cooperative, a program designed to bring affordable housing to students in California's Bay-area, and 'aims to provide housing to low-income, first generation, immigrant and marginalized students of color'.

According to the 'rules,' people that live there should 'avoid bringing parents/family members that express bigotry,' because 'Queer, Black, and Indigenous members should not have to avoid common spaces because of
    homophobic or racist parents/family members.'

Janet Gilmore, Senior Director of Strategic Communications at the University told DailyMail.com the house is not campus operated, meaning "it is not the role of the campus to comment".

Gilmore also said the University does have it's own Theme Programs, but they have no such policies like the one alleged in the Reddit image, and stated
"Cal Housing Theme Programs do not discriminate on the basis of race, consistent with UC and campus policy. As this involves an off-campus non-affiliated landlord, the campus has no ability under the Code of Student Conduct to discipline the landlord."

You spent four solid years not condemning anything. Not rape, not calls
for termination of the constitution, not insurrection, not fraud, not
gross negligence, not lies, not cheating... practically nothing.

And shouldn't we all go by the same standard?

In a mandatory course on "structural racism" for first-year medical students
at the University of California Los Angeles, a guest speaker who has praised Hamas's Oct. 7 attack on Israel led students in chants of "Free, Free Palestine" and demanded that they bow down to "Mama Earth," according to students in the class and audio obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Lisa "Tiny" Gray-Garcia, who has referred to the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks as "justice", began the March 27 class by leading students in what she described as a "non-secular prayer to the ancestors", instructing everyone to get on their knees and touch the floor-- "Mama Earth", as she described it-- with their fists.

At least half of the assembled students complied, two students said. Gray-Garcia, a local activist who had been invited to speak about "Housing (In)Justice", proceeded to thank native tribes for preserving "what the settlers call L.A.", according to audio obtained by the Free Beacon, and to remind students of the city's "herstory".

The prayer also included a benediction for "black, brown, and houseless people who die because of the crapatalist lie of private property. Mama Earth," Gray-Garcia told the kneeling students, "was never meant to be bought, sold, pimped, or played."

So began a long and looney lecture that shocked some students at the elite medical school and has led to calls for an investigation. Wearing a keffiyeh that covered her entire face, Gray-Garcia, a self-described "poverty scholar", led the class in chants of "Free, Free Palestine" as faculty and staff looked on in silence, according to people in the course and contemporaneous text messages reviewed by the Free Beacon.

One of the onlookers was Lindsay Wells, a pediatrician at UCLA and the
director of the mandatory first-year course, "Structural Racism and Health Equity", who did not respond to a request for comment.

Gray-Garcia later referred to modern medicine as "white science" and inveighed against the "occupation" of "Turtle Island"-- that is, the United States-- before asking students to stand for a second prayer. This time, nearly
    everyone rose.

When one student remained seated, according to students in the class, a UCLA administrator, whom the Free Beacon could not identify, inquired about the student’s identity, implying that discipline could be on the table.

"The net effect was that UCLA staff intimidated first-year medical students into participating in a religious service in derogation of their own personal beliefs," UCLA’s Jewish Faculty Resilience Group wrote to university chancellor Gene Block on Sunday. "There needs to be an urgent and thorough external review and investigation of the [medical school’s] curriculum and systemic antisemitism."

UCLA and Gray-Garcia did not respond to requests for comment.

The surreal spectacle is the latest controversy to envelop the "Structural Racism and Health Equity" class, launched in the wake of George Floyd's death as a part of the medical school’s "anti-racism roadmap". The course became the
subject of a civil rights complaint in January after it separated students
into race-based discussion groups-- one for white students, another for
African Americans, and a third for "non-black people of color". UCLA cancelled the exercise after a Wall Street Journal editorial highlighted the complaint.

More unwanted attention came in March when the Daily Wire published portions
of the course's syllabus, which includes units on "settler colonialism" and recommends a podcast about "indigenous womxn's health". Students are also
urged to read an essay, "Decolonization is Not a Metaphor", that describes the "epistemic, ontological, and cosmological violence of the settler".

Gray-Garcia's talk offers a window into the way these concepts are shaping the classroom experience at one of the top medical schools in the country-- and raises serious questions about how that school vetted a speaker with a long history of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic posts.

News of Gray-Garcia's lecture comes as the Department of Education is investigating UCLA over a string of anti-Semitic episodes on campus, including an incident in which students bludgeoned a piñata with a picture of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s face. "Beat that fucking Jew," one student
allegedly shouted. In a separate incident, UCLA moved an event with former Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni online due to threats of protests.

Beyond her anti-Israel posts, Gray-Garcia’s writings include a book called "How to Not Call the Po'Lice Ever" and a poem, "Dear KKKolumbus", dedicated to black people killed by law enforcement.

"Pop - Pop/Our babies have been shot," the first stanza reads. "By these occupying armies called KKKops."

Had I been present I probably would have walked out at that point had

I would have started with something along the lines of not tolerating

And let's be clear - during my grad school days I >did< write to the
Dean concerning a part time prof who gave the same examination in two consecutive years - and given the library routinely had copies of all
recent past tests - which my entire class knew - several of the study
groups in the business school had done each of 3 or 4 previous
examinations as a group and were staggered to see the exam they had
group studied as their final exam.

(To be sure - I had special access to the Dean given he was in his
first year as Dean and he knew I had been the previous Dean's teaching assistant - and this abusive professor caused all these folks to get
As in the course and since we were graded "on the curve" I got a B in
his course which cost me my spot on the Dean's List which didn't
exactly lead me to be supportive.... and 35+ years later I remember
    the incident VERY VERY well!)

That's what I did when they brought in one of these racist DEI lecturers
to my job. I made it about 45 minutes in before I just got up and walked
    out.

And when the boss tried to strong-arm me into going back in to this
'mandatory' training, I told him if anyone in management tried to force
me to sit through that bigoted woman's spiel, I'd immediately get on the
phone to the EEOC and file an official complaint for a racially hostile
work environment and they could spend the next six months writing
responses and testifying before government panels defending why they
think it's necessary for employees to sit through racist lectures
    disguised as 'training'.

Suddenly it wasn't so important that I attend anymore.
