LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL did scary numbers this weekend at the box office as it finally came to cinema screens.

Starring THE DARK KNIGHT and PRISONERS icon David Dastmalchian, the chilling horror film follows late-night talk show host Jack Delroy whose mysterious
past comes back to haunt him during a special episode of his TV programme
    Night Owls.

The found footage film is made up of tapes from the fateful 1977 Halloween episode, as well as behind-the-scenes snippets of the terror on set.

It garnered a terrifying reputation from early screenings, with 'King of Horror' Stephen King urging people to watch the film-- and he wasn't the only one, with HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE and FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER creator Mike Flanagan agreeing.

After its cinema release on Friday, the film amassed a whopping $2.8million (£2.21million) across its opening weekend-- garnering a truly apt $666,666 (£528,319) on Sunday alone (per Variety).

It also boasts a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, sitting at 96% on the Tomatometer with the critics' consensus hailing it: "Delightfully dark, LATE NIGHT WITH THE DEVIL proves possession horror isn't played out-- and serves as an outstanding showcase for David Dastmalchian."

For an out-and-out R-rated horror flick, it's slightly perfect...
