Ian reminded me that it's still on Showtime. I didn't recognize it from
the description that it's a comedy. I watched the beginning of it. Yeah,
I remembered it. I had no idea it was supposed to be a comedy. Whatever
they were trying to do, they couldn't pull it off. I'm never going to
watch this straight through.

This sure sounds like one of the plots on the Treadstone tv series from
a few years ago. I'd say the assasin with a secret identity as an
ordinary family woman has been done to death and much better and that
this standard plot should be retired for a few years, but no one cares
what my opinion is.

"Treadstone tv series." Treadstone as in the Bourne Identity?

Yes. They adapted a tv series based on the evil Treadstone program from
the Robert Ludlum novels. There were no references to anything else in
the novels nor the movie adaptations. I don't think the Jason Bourne character was even mentioned in dialogue.
10 episodes, USA Network, September-December 2019
Very little of the continuing plot made sense. I don't recall that
any of the story lines were wrapped up.
There was plenty of snarking here on Usenet.
