In lieu of the Oscars, I watched the Oscar Award Winning My Cousin Vinny (1992).

The movie is wonderfully quotable, and just gets comedy right. Joe Pesci,
best known for playing Tommy in Goodfellas (1990) best supporting Oscar
win, and again Nicky in Casino (1995), two of the most malicious thugs in modern gangster movies, gives a brilliant comic performance. Who knew he
could do comedy? I don't really care for Home Alone (1990) overly broad
humor and its slapstick never worked for me. I've not seen it all the
    way through.

The movie works because he and Fred Gwynne play off each other
brilliantly. The popularity of this movie should have given Gwynne a
career boost. Alas, he would die the following year.

And Marisa Tomei, ah Marisa. She'd follow up this movie with another outstanding performance in Untamed Heart (1993). The movie had a
mediocre script but she prevails, nevertheless.

In Vinny, her scenes with Pesci are all just wicked sexual foreplay.

Her comic ability is dead-on-balls accurate. I have your certificate
    right here.

Pesci should have played uncle Ben.
