President Joe Biden botched the name of the young woman who was allegedly murdered by an illegal alien in Georgia late last month during a shouting
match with a Republican member of Congress on Thursday night during his State of the Union speech.

“I’d, be, a winner —, not really,” Biden said at the start of the awkward
    clip.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) shouted at Biden to say the name of Laken Riley, the young Georgia nursing student who was allegedly murdered late last month by a Venezuelan national.

“Lincoln Riley!” Biden said. “An innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal. That’s right. But how many of the thousands of people being killed
by illegals? To her parents, I say, my heart goes out to you having lost children myself. I understand.”

Greene fired back at Biden on social media, writing: “Joe Biden’s policies killed Laken Riley. He finally tried to say her name, but couldn’t even say
it correctly. It’s an absolute disgrace.”

If you think that's significant maybe you should run for President and
tweet about it. You'd need a legitimate identity first though, so
    therein lies the rub.

Biden was criticized for calling Jose Ibarra, the prime suspect in the
murder of Laken Riley, "an illegal", over the semantic concern that use
of the word has denied the foreign nationals in the country illegally
his humanity. It's always so much easier to use language to thwart communication in order to distract from discussion so that the underlying problem isn't addressed.

Ibarra was in the country illegally but it wasn't just because he had
crossed the international border illegally. He entered with a 23-year-old
woman (who claimed to be his wife) and a five-year-old child.

Apparently they thought he was lying as he was processed as a single
adult male. Border patrol arrested him in El Paso. He was later paroled
and released for further processing due to lack of detention space.

He was released on parole that he didn't qualify for and therefore in
    the country illegally.

Based on tatoos, his older brother Diego, arrested on the University of
Georgia campus for green card fraud, is accused of being affiliated with
a dangerous Venezualan gang, Tren de Aragua, committing violent crimes
    in New York and elsewhere.

Riley's corpse was discovered on the UGA campus. She had recently
transferred to the nursing program at Augustana University. The two
    campuses are near each other.

Why didn't Jose qualify for parole? Because Border Patrol isn't given
the necessary time to perform background checks. Department of Homeland Security documents list Jose as a member of Tren de Aragua.

the necessary time to perform background checks.

How does DHS perform background checks on people from other countries?

I couldn't do our normal vetting as a Secret Service agent when we were
in another country. Best I could do was hope the host country would do
it for me and trust their results, so we had to adjust our security plan accordingly.

If the foreign country isn't even minimally cooperative, like El
Salvador, which is using Biden's gross negligence as an opportunity to
relieve itself of hundreds of its worst criminals and isn't going
telling us which ones are good and which ones are pure evil, what is DHS supposed to check? Border Patrol can make the guy strip and check for
gang tattoos but that's the depth and breadth of the background check
they can perform. And that's assuming he isn't a "got-away" that never
even encounters BP in the first place.

Again, this wouldn't even be an issue if the president would just do his legally mandated duty and SECURE THE BORDER.

Why didn't Jose qualify for parole? Because Border Patrol isn't given
the necessary time to perform background checks.

How does DHS perform background checks on people from other countries?

Obviously they receive no information from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuala. If if there were information received, it wouldn't be
reliable. They are strictly looking at gang tatoos.

But Jose was already in the database, as I pointed out in the synopsis
that you didn't quote, so Border Patrol must have observed a gang tatoo
the last time he attempted entry into the United States.

Jose presented himself at the border travelling with a woman claiming to
be his wife and a five year old girl. He should have been turned back at
that point as they didn't believe she was his wife, even without
performing the background check. He was already in the database.

Did you read anything I wrote? I'm pro immigration. I thought the
compromise bill should have become law.

Nothing we are discussing here has anything to do with whether Jose
Ibarra should have been allowed entry or paroled into the United States.
He wasn't a "gotaway". He had multiple encounters with Immigration (he lied
to Immigration at entry but was allowed in anyway) and Border Patrol. DHS
had a record of him for being a gang member. No one performed the minimal vetting -- a fingerprint check would have turned up the record, I assume.

He got paroled because they had no room to hold him, but even with
Biden's super-generous parole for Venezualans, he didn't qualify.

Parole is being abused and Border Patrol simply isn't processing anybody properly even according to Biden's rules.

There are 0 posts from Biden about Laken Riley.

Biden was criticized for calling Jose Ibarra, the prime suspect in the
murder of Laken Riley, "an illegal", over the semantic concern that use
of the word has denied the foreign nationals in the country illegally
his humanity. It's always so much easier to use language to thwart
communication in order to distract from discussion so that the underlying >> problem isn't addressed.

Ibarra was in the country illegally but it wasn't just because he had
crossed the international border illegally. He entered with a 23-year-old >> woman (who claimed to be his wife) and a five-year-old child.

Apparently they thought he was lying as he was processed as a single
adult male. Border patrol arrested him in El Paso. He was later paroled
and released for further processing due to lack of detention space.

    https://www.newsnationnow.com/crime/university-of-georgia-killing-timeline/

He was released on parole that he didn't qualify for and therefore in
    the country illegally.

Based on tatoos, his older brother Diego, arrested on the University of
Georgia campus for green card fraud, is accused of being affiliated with >> a dangerous Venezualan gang, Tren de Aragua, committing violent crimes
    in New York and elsewhere.

Riley's corpse was discovered on the UGA campus. She had recently
transferred to the nursing program at Augustana University. The two
    campuses are near each other.

Why didn't Jose qualify for parole? Because Border Patrol isn't given
the necessary time to perform background checks.

Salvador, which is using Biden's gross negligence as an opportunity to relieve itself of hundreds of its worst criminals and isn't telling
us which ones are good and which ones are pure evil, what is DHS
supposed to check? Border Patrol can make the guy strip and check for
gang tattoos but that's the depth and breadth of the background check
they can perform. And that's assuming he isn't one of the millions of "got-aways" that never even encounter BP in the first place.

Again, this wouldn't even be an issue if the president would just do his legally mandated duty and SECURE THE BORDER.

And how's he supposed to do that when the Rs in the House are not
    willing to work with him

In his first month in office, Biden issued 94 executive orders
facilitating mass illegal alien entry into the country and prohibiting
the Border Patrol from preventing any illegal from entering the U.S.

He could start with rescinding every one of those executive orders. He
didn't need any Republican cooperation to issue those EOs in the first
place and he doesn't need any Republican cooperation to rescind them now.

Second, under existing law, including the Immigration and Nationality
Act of 1952, the president of the United States has the authority to
turn every single foreign national away at the border if he determines
it's necessary to safeguard the country, to include refugees. There is
no requirement in law or in the Constitution that we entertain millions
of fraudulent asylum claims (or even legitimate asylum claims, as rare
    as those may be).

There is no legal requirement that we allow a single non-citizen into
    this country. Period.

No new 'bipartisan bill' is required. No Republican cooperation is
required. Biden could rescind those executive orders and lock the border
down today if he wanted to.

    He. Doesn't. Want. To.

He hasn't wanted to for the last three years. What makes you think he
suddenly wants to now? He only wants to *look* like he does because this
is an election year and he knows the American people-- to include a not-insignificant number of his fellow Democrats-- are *extremely*
    pissed about the border.

on a bill written by them and would have authorized more money for border issues.

That money was only going to be allocated to hire more personnel to help process illegals into the country faster. It was not going to fund
policies, procedures, or personnel to secure the border or to keep
illegals out, and it sure as hell wouldn't have somehow given the Border
Patrol the ability to conduct background checks on foreign nationals
    from uncooperative home countries.

And even if he issued a presidential order, how is it going to be enforced?

It would be enforced by ICE and the Border Patrol. You know, the folks
he told to stand down when he took office. He can stand them back up
again. Remove them from desk duty at processing centers and put them
back out patrolling the border. Have them start actually kicking people
out of the country again, like they're supposed to.

He could also stop suing to stop every state that builds a barrier or
otherwise inhibits illegal alien border crossings. If states are willing
to do that out of their own funds, let them. That relieves Biden of the
need to ask Congress for the money to do it.

But he again: He. Doesn't. Want. To.

Of course I did, it's not your post I was replying to. I want to know
what BTR thinks should be done to 'secure' the border.

Nothing we are discussing here has anything to do with whether Jose
Ibarra should have been allowed entry or paroled into the United States.
He wasn't a "gotaway". He had multiple encounters with Immigration (he lied to Immigration at entry but was allowed in anyway) and Border Patrol. DHS
had a record of him for being a gang member.

I don't necessarily disagree, but Trump abused Title 42. It was

He could start with rescinding every one of those executive orders. He

Asylum creates a right in law for a foreign national to claim. I
certainly don't agree with you. Those have to be adjudicated.

There is no legal requirement that we allow a single non-citizen into
    this country. Period.

No new 'bipartisan bill' is required. No Republican cooperation is
required. Biden could rescind those executive orders and lock the border
down today if he wanted to.

    He. Doesn't. Want. To.

You can make the argument that people encountering Immigration (at a
port of entry) or Border Patrol be processed with parole (except under
    very limited circumstances).

I don't agree that there is a practical way to lock the border down for
those who don't encounter Border Patrol.

It's not even desireable. Border Patrol has always had a specious
mission. If they aren't committing crimes, if they are working and not
on welfare, then they are contributing to the economy and making the
    nation stronger.

I've never had strong feelings about an easier path to citizenship for immigrants. I think changing national allegiance is entirely different
than living and working here. Plenty of people come to America haven't
    truly become Americans at heart.

He hasn't wanted to for the last three years. What makes you think he >suddenly wants to now? He only wants to *look* like he does because this
is an election year and he knows the American people-- to include a >not-insignificant number of his fellow Democrats-- are *extremely*

on a bill written by them and would have authorized more money for border >>issues.

That money was only going to be allocated to hire more personnel to help >process illegals into the country faster.

You can't have it both ways. The asylum claims -- which Trump almost
entirely refused to process -- have to be adjudicated. That requires
personnel and money. As you point out, most of them are overruled.

It was not going to fund policies, procedures, or personnel to secure
the border or to keep illegals out, and it sure as hell wouldn't have
somehow given the Border Patrol the ability to conduct background checks
on foreign nationals from uncooperative home countries.

We don't need to keep people out. It's never made economic sense. We
need to keep out the gang members and known criminals and to quickly
deport those who committed crimes here. But people who come here to
work and not be on welfare, to succeed, are good for America. The economy
    is larger.

    You've always gotten this wrong.

I have no objection to enforcing the law as it stands, but much of the
    law is bullshit.

In the immediate instance of what we are discussing -- Jose Ibarra --
the border would have been secured just fine if at immigration it had been discovered that he was already identified as a member of a dangerous gang,
an excellent reason for him to NOT be allowed into the country.

There are things that can be dealt with without the proposed legislation.

The border isn't even secure from known bad actors who present themselves
at a port of entry? That's absurd, and that's not due to lack of
    legislation or funding.

We don't need to keep people out.

In the last three years, we've admitted more illegals than the
population of Wisconsin. That's an elegant sufficiency of immigrants.
We're good for at least the next 10 years. We don't need more.

State police enforcing a state immigration law is no different than
state police enforcing a state anti-counterfeit law.

Local cops arrest and prosecute people for counterfeiting all the time
and no one cries about "violations of federalism" when they do.

And how's he supposed to do that when the Rs in the House are not
    willing to work with him

In his first month in office, Biden issued 94 executive orders

    Cite?

facilitating mass illegal alien entry into the country and prohibiting
the Border Patrol from preventing any illegal from entering the U.S.

What makes you think he suddenly wants to now? He only wants to *look* like he does because this
is an election year and he knows the American people-- to include a not-insignificant number of his fellow Democrats-- are *extremely*
    pissed about the border.

on a bill written by them and would have authorized more money for border
    issues.

That money was only going to be allocated to hire more personnel to help process illegals into the country faster. It was not going to fund
policies, procedures, or personnel to secure the border or to keep
illegals out, and it sure as hell wouldn't have somehow given the Border Patrol the ability to conduct background checks on foreign nationals
    from uncooperative home countries.

He could also stop suing to stop every state that builds a barrier or otherwise inhibits illegal alien border crossings. If states are willing
to do that out of their own funds, let them. That relieves Biden of the
need to ask Congress for the money to do it.

But he again: He. Doesn't. Want. To.

I don't agree with Texas's willful violations of federalism.

State police enforcing a state immigration law is no different than
state police enforcing a state anti-counterfeit law.

Local cops arrest and prosecute people for counterfeiting all the time
and no one cries about "violations of federalism" when they do.

George Floyd was murdered BY THE GOVERNMENT. Riley wasn't.

Sure she was. The government aided and abetted her murder by
(repeatedly) failing to keep her murderer out of the country as required
    by U.S. law.

Since when has government ever been found liable for unintended
consequences of any policy, or for failure to perform a duty?

Jose Ibarra entered the United States via Immigration at El Paso. He was allowed to enter with a background check, even though they didn't
believe that the woman with 5 year old girl he entered with was his
wife. He latered encountered Border Patrol in El Paso. They had no way
to hold him and released him without performing a background check. The background check would have turned up that he was listed by Department
of Homeland Security as a gang member based on tatoos.

Despite clear government failure here, there's no third-party liability. There's no civil right to competent government.

This is a women's rights issue anyway. No woman undertaking exercise as
a solitary activity should be subject to murder or other violent crime
just because of opportunity. She hadn't put herself in danger.

It's curious how I've never heard Marjorie Taylor Greene previously give
a fuck that a female college student had been murdered or attacked, who
had not put herself in danger, under similar circumstances.

I do not support Biden's use of parole, which is clearly being abused,
but the hypocrisy of MTG's failure to care about other young women as
crime victims under similar circumstances is blatant.

The Republican Party doesn't give a shit about immigration law. It just
makes for convenient politics to overemphasize crime committed by people
I would agree should no be present in the United States while playing
down any sympathy for victims of crime under similar circumstances with
an American perpetrator. The current law, written by the Republican
Party during the Reagan administration, is largely a bad law with its outrageous emphasis upon employers to enforce it.

It's hypocrisy. In politics, we care about some victims and not other
victims, and we care to denounce some perpetrators but not other
    perpetrators.

For years, you've been slamming it as The Agenda. Are you limiting your criticism of the depth and depravity of political hypocrisy to partisans
you believe are Democrats? Or can you recognize that there is plenty of hypocrisy to go around?

This was written by a poli sci major (because of course she is), a
senior at Northwestern University. I thought it was well written. She's slamming the failure of advocates for female crime victims to denounce
the rapes, torture, and murders of civilians, mostly girls and women, in
the October 7 attack by Hamas.

She points out the decades-long history that Jewish women had in
standing for human rights, but too few are fighting for them as victims
    of terrorism.

    https://chicago.suntimes.com/other-views/2024/03/08/jewish-women-victims-violence-israel-hamas-war-oct-7-human-rights-lily-cohen

There was similar hypocrisy among plenty of George Floyd protestors, who
truly were not advocating for an ethical position on police reform.
Society was being disrupted and police were distracted by protestors
so that lots of property crime and some violent crimes were being
committed unimpeded. Plenty of the protestors had little goal beyond
    disrupting society.

There should be no politics at play. Victims are victims because a crime
was perpetrated upon them. A perpetrator is a bad actor because he took advantage of a situation in which the victim was perceived to be
defenseless and vulnerable. Well, despite the unfortunate situation, no
one has the right to commit a crime against another person.

Why cannot this be a universal sentiment?

us which ones are good and which ones are pure evil, what is DHS
supposed to check? Border Patrol can make the guy strip and check for
gang tattoos but that's the depth and breadth of the background check
they can perform. And that's assuming he isn't one of the millions of
"got-aways" that never even encounter BP in the first place.

Again, this wouldn't even be an issue if the president would just do
    his
legally mandated duty and SECURE THE BORDER.

He only wants to *look* like he does because this
is an election year and he knows the American people-- to include a
not-insignificant number of his fellow Democrats-- are *extremely*
    pissed about the border.

on a bill written by them and would have authorized more money for
    border
    issues.

That money was only going to be allocated to hire more personnel to help
process illegals into the country faster. It was not going to fund
policies, procedures, or personnel to secure the border or to keep
illegals out, and it sure as hell wouldn't have somehow given the Border
Patrol the ability to conduct background checks on foreign nationals
    from uncooperative home countries.

And even if he issued a presidential order, how is it going to be
    enforced?

It would be enforced by ICE and the Border Patrol. You know, the folks
he told to stand down when he took office. He can stand them back up
again. Remove them from desk duty at processing centers and put them
back out patrolling the border. Have them start actually kicking people
out of the country again, like they're supposed to.

He could also stop suing to stop every state that builds a barrier or
otherwise inhibits illegal alien border crossings. If states are willing
to do that out of their own funds, let them. That relieves Biden of the
need to ask Congress for the money to do it.

But he again: He. Doesn't. Want. To.

No.  YOU don't want to fix it.  Never mind the EO, pass a bill.
You've bitched about the use of EO's only when it's a Dem president.

Of course he doesn't want to fix it, his whole goal is just to sound
    butthurt.

You ain't got nothing on Goebbels, I'll give you that.

I'm going to keep repeating exactly what happened. You insist you want
the border secured, but refuse to see that's what this bill would do.

I (repeatedly) described what the bill would do, which is the opposite
of border security. You haven't denied any of it, by the way. You just
keep insisting that I went to DC and wrote a bill and now reject it
because Trump personally called me up and ordered me to.

Would it prevent everything you want?

It wouldn't even do the basic job it theoretically exists for: securing
the border and stopping the invasion.

It makes the border *less* secure and formally legalizes the invasion.

this bill gives the government more tools and much more money for border enforcement that ever before.

No, it gives the government more money to process illegals into the
    country.

Until you admit that, I'll keep hammering away at you with the truth.
This bill absolutely improves border security...

Continuing to not only allow but *legalize* the flood of up to 8000
unvetted illegals per day into the country (2.92 million per year) is
not an improvement on border security.

The border doesn't magically become secure merely because you wave a legislative wand at it and make all the illegal shit that's going on
    there legal.

    pissed about the border.

on a bill written by them and would have authorized more money for
    border
    issues.

That money was only going to be allocated to hire more personnel to
    help
process illegals into the country faster. It was not going to fund
policies, procedures, or personnel to secure the border or to keep
illegals out, and it sure as hell wouldn't have somehow given the
    Border
Patrol the ability to conduct background checks on foreign nationals
    from uncooperative home countries.

And even if he issued a presidential order, how is it going to be
    enforced?

It would be enforced by ICE and the Border Patrol. You know, the folks >>>> he told to stand down when he took office. He can stand them back up
again. Remove them from desk duty at processing centers and put them
back out patrolling the border. Have them start actually kicking people >>>> out of the country again, like they're supposed to.

He could also stop suing to stop every state that builds a barrier or
otherwise inhibits illegal alien border crossings. If states are
    willing
to do that out of their own funds, let them. That relieves Biden of the >>>> need to ask Congress for the money to do it.

But he again: He. Doesn't. Want. To.

No. YOU don't want to fix it.

This is what you're going with now? You're just going to keep repeating
the bald-faced lie that I've suddenly become an open borders advocate?

You ain't got nothing on Goebbels, I'll give you that.

I'm going to keep repeating exactly what happened.

Like me repeating "Laken Riley, because a representative sampling of
one, isn't statistically significant." Twat keeps literally driving off cliffs.

    You insist you want
the border secured, but refuse to see that's what this bill would do.

Would it prevent everything you want?  No, nothing CAN do that, but this bill gives the government more tools and much more money for border enforcement that ever before.

Until you admit that, I'll keep hammering away at you with the truth.
This bill absolutely improves border security... something you keep pretending is important to you.

If it was, you'd jump at the chance to enact this legislation - because
I guarantee when this election is over, this package will be DOA with
    the new congress.

No, it gives the government more money to process illegals into the country.

This bill absolutely improves border security...

Continuing to not only allow but *legalize* the flood of up to 8000 unvetted illegals per day into the country (2.92 million per year) is
not an improvement on border security.

The border doesn't magically become secure merely because you wave a legislative wand at it and make all the illegal shit that's going on
    there legal.

You can dance around all you like, but nothing will change what
    happened.

Doesn't matter what happened. A border where millions are allowed to
flood across it unvetted is factually not secure under any standard non-Orwellian doublespeak definition of the word in the English-speaking
    world.

Millions of illegals have been flooding across for three years before
your precious bill was even proposed and it was happening because Joe
Biden signed 94 EOs allowing and facilitating it to happen.

You refuse to address this because "the bill! the bill! the bill!" is
the only arrow in your quiver to defend against the reality that the
entire border apocalypse lies squarely at the feet of Democrats.

Then an election year rolls around so they bribe a few RINOs to support
a bill that's nominally about border security but is actually about
codifying the abject lawlessness, hoping it's rejected so they can try
and fool the mouth-breathing public that Democrats are the *real*
champions of border security who are being thwarted by evil Republicans.

When in reality, if Biden was *really* upset that this bill was rejected
and he *really* was interested in border security, and he *really*
wanted to stop the illegal invasion, he has the power to do it himself
without having to ask anything of any Republican. Current immigration
law gives him that power. And he could rescind his 94 EOs. And he could
drop lawsuits against Texas and Arizona for building barriers. He could
do all of this and more and the border would be a good long way down the
    road to be secure.

    But he won't.

    Because. He. Doesn't. Want To.

Blank space left for Effa to copy/paste his standard avoidance of any of
the points raised above by saying "the bill! the bill! the bill!":

No, it's a term of art used in the military to denote young, fit, men

It does mean something. Not my fault you lack the language skills to understand it.

It only has meaning in the context of a war. And it's for the purpose
of designating the types of treatment you can subject combatants and non-combatants to in a war setting.

Nothing to do with anything, except as it equates to another slur.
And you just love slurring various minorities.

In fairness the United States DOES have a serious problem with

in recent years has paid much attention to the northern border)

It's serious and has been for years - especially during 2008-16 and
the present term. It's especially serious as the majority of refugees
from Mexico are either (1) fleeing not the government in Mexico City
but the drug cartels or (2) passing through Mexico en route to the US
from wherever it is they originated from. And the latter especially IS
a security threat to the US irregardless of whether you think those
    fleeing the cartels are.
