• What Did You Watch? 2024-03-03 (Sunday)

From Ubiquitous@21:1/5 to All on Mon Mar 4 04:30:40 2024
    I watched:

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    WE ARE THE 80'S

    THE LOVE BOAT:
In this two-parter, the Pacific Princess transports a wedding party to
Alaska for the nuptials of the son of a wealthy heiress and the
granddaughter of a fiercely independent oil man. Hmm, I could have sworn
    I saw this one before...
    • "Carol & Doug". The couple getting married have to deal with his ex- girlfriend's meddling.
    • "Peter & Alicia". The groom's divorced parents quarrel while he is
suffering from terminal cancer and she having to declare bankruptcy. Both
try to keep their problems from one another. I swear I remember seeing
the story about the person paying for the wedding going broke before...
    • "Julie's Story". Julie searches for the man in Alaska she almost
    married last season.
    • "Buddy & Portia". The grandfather of the bride and the ecentric aunt
of the groom fall in love and get married.

    TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT

    FAMILY GUY:
"Snap(ple) Decision". Lois wins a Snapple contest and uses her winnings to
take Meg on a tropical vacation, where they flaunt their wealth and get kidnapped. Meanwhile, Stewie and Brian undergo friendship therapy.
I had to agree with Cleveland Brown. Still, it was kind of nice for her and
Meg to have an adventure together, and for Lois to be the loving mother she
    was pre-cancellation.

    KRAPOPOLIS:
"A Krapwork Orange". Hippocampus and Stupendous train an unruly group of town-children and accidentally create an apex predator. Tyrannis mistakenly attends an Anti-Tyrannis rally.

I finished grading an exam, and had to give review session to another
class, but I still managed to get through:

golf - Weather delay at Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach, FL meant that
the Day 3 leaders hadn't even started the final round before I had to
leave for work - it looks like this was delayed into today to finish the
    final round...

soaps: Fri's ep's (finally caught back up!!).
DOOL - This was actually enjoyable. The cute but EVOL! copette looks
on as Stefan goes into Harris Michael's room to inject the drug from
Clyde to kill Harris. But Harris is only faking being asleep! - He grabs
Stefan an restrains him (this is patently absurd as Harris has been shot
twice, and would be in no shape to overpower Stefan!), telling Stefan he
will now surrender and work with the cops to take down Clyde! But Stefan escapes! Then cute but EVOL! copette comes into check, expecting Harris
to be dead, but is stunned by Harris being alive! She is about to pull
her weapon on him, after Harris figures out that cute but EVOL! copette
is the "mole", when a nurse comes in! Cute but EVOL! copette flees! Her
cover is blown!!... Meanwhile, Nicole and EJ tell dumb Holly that she's
been in a coma for months, due to a drug overdose. Holly feigns not remembering, but it's clear she does, and is feeling guilty. Also, Tate
refuses to see Brady, until NuTheresa admits that she is the one who
prevented Tate from seeing Brady for all of those years... Finally, Constantine/EVOL! Schanke from FK confronts Steve, and gets Steve to
admit that he was The Pawn's handler when Constantine's daughter died. Constantine vows revenge! REVENGE!!
GH - This ep was just OK. Sonny and Selina have a plan to flush out
the mob boss-killer, or at least his underlings, and Ava insists upon
being a part of the plan. Michael and Dante talk about Sonny (and Dex).
Maxie whines to her mother about Spinelli. I think these were the
    highlights.

I had enough time left over for a recorded Lifetime flick, provided I fast-forwarded through the commercials!

My Husband's Seven Wives (recorded) - I recorded this off LMN in late
    January.
This was actually more fun that I was expecting!
Kristi Murdock plays Maggie, a naive dope! Her husband, Alan (Adam
Harper), is sketchy, but she's too dumb to notice!
But when she sees her husband's corvette(?) around town, she follows
it to a house where she is confronted by a woman named Pam (Christina Licciardi) - Pam is married to Alan too!! Pam tells Maggie that Alan has
stolen all her money, and he's probably doing the same to Maggie too! It
turns out Pam is right - Alan is stealing dumb Maggie's money too!
Maggie and Pam start investigating Alan, and they come across yet
another wife - brassy Kristin (Kylie Delre), with a HS senior-aged son
of Alan's named Max (Nathan Lee).
All three, and the son, start working together and uncover even more
wives of Alan, including two that are dead, and were likely murdered by
    Alan!
Meanwhile, Maggie is kidnapped by two thugs who threaten her over
    money that Alan owes them!
How will Maggie (and co.) get out of this mess?! They have to find
    Alan's hidden stash of cash!
This wasn't deep, but it was a fun ride, and the wives were
generally fun, esp. Kylie Delre's Kristin.
    The ending was appropriate.

    Hey, thanks for asking!

I actually made notes of what I watched but only of the titles so we’ll see what I remember…

    Mother!

An absolutely horrid, and apparently intentionally horrid, total crap fest.
Shot without any studio lighting inside at night during an eclipse.
Endless close-up footage of Jennifer Lawrence walking and she keeps walking like she has 1 foot in a cast although only half the time. Apparently they rehearsed for a month and she never started acting until they were actually onset. They gave her half the budget of the film! It deserves a whole
Snark, but there’s no way in hell I’d watch the whole thing.

    Death in Paradise

Looks like they just wrote Marlon out of the series. And brought back a surprise guest star to do it. The solution to the mystery was silly at
best. At the end we find out who the inspectors secret love is and it
wasn’t who they’ve been trying to tease us into thinking it would be, which was greatly disappointing. :-(

    Yellow Rose

A western series with Cybill Shepherd that was put together just as cheaply
as possible, although it has a really good cast.

    Professionals

OK this came out of nowhere and it’s the winner of the day.

Shot in 2020 in South Africa, but not released until 2022 in the United
States. It’s now made its way to Freevee. Apparently it was on The CW (as
it was known at the time) who just bought it, and then refused to finance a second season. Ian‘s Wikipedia article says that the show runners are
trying to secure financing to continue the show (Ian, since when is that a Showrunners job?) Which would involve a different client each season. This would be a shame because the client is the best part of it.

Tom Welling does a good job as a security expert. Brendan Fraser does a
great job as a goofy Elon Musk who employs him. Lots of improbably hot
South African actresses you’ve never seen before. People running all over
the place firing fully automatic rifle at each other.

This is a throwback to an earlier time, sort of like VIP if it took itself seriously or at least semi seriously. That sort of thing.

I watched about three episodes into the night before I fell asleep and
    enjoyed them all.

Great looking, well lit, Fabulous locations and architecture that you
haven’t seen a dozen times before. I usually enjoy watching stuff shot in South Africa because it’s just so different!

    What did you watch?

    I watched:

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (4K disc) 2019 sequel where Godzilla has
to save his pets from various monsters. Thankfully he has Mothra to
lend a wing. This movie is loads of fun. And beautiful to look at.
One annoyance is I know for a fact the twins (both played by Zhang Ziyi)
are in this movie. And I was actively keeping an eye out for them, but
I could never track which twin was which. Obviously the filmmakers were
having a bit of fun at audience expense by never have the two of them in
the same place at the same time. Still this is an improvement. The
first couple of times I watched the movie I didn't even know Ziyi was
    playing two different characters.

Godzilla vs. Kong (4K disc) Godzilla is back but this time he's in a bad
mood and trying to boss Kong around. Except Kong bows to no one! Let
them fight, round 2. OK, so maybe you have to turn your brain all the
way off for this one. It's still fun.

Shogun (FX) - I finally got around to watching the first two episodes.
It lives up to the hype. I never watched the original series and I
wonder a little how similar this is to it. It probably would have
helped if I had watched the original with keeping track of all the
characters and what's going on at times.

The Regime (HBO) New miniseries starring Kate Winslet as the prime
minister of a European country. From the first episode she clearly has
some psychological issues and I'm assuming is a would-be authoritarian
in the making. In the first episode she brings aboard a disgraced
soldier. I'm not sure what he did, probably killed some innocent people,
but Winslet was fine with whatever it was. He's brought on to act as I
guess personal bodyguard, but he mainly checked the air for moisture
levels due to Winslet's fear of vague contaminants in the air. Everyone
else around Winslet knows she's off and warns the soldier, but he seems
to happily embrace the madness and by the end is encouraging her to rule
with an iron fist. I don't know if I could take this for a full season,
but it's only 6 episodes and I'm curious to see where it goes. As an
aside, I could tell the show looks great and I *wanted* to watch it on
HBOMax which is airing it in proper 4K with Dolby Atmos. But I've been
deemed unworthy to receive the full HBOMax experience since I get it for
    free. :-/

Mayor of Kingstown (Showtime) - "Santa Jesus" - Mostly background noise.
