• ping BTR1701 John Williams at CSO

    From Adam H. Kerman@21:1/5 to All on Wed Feb 28 21:22:43 2024
As Chicago Symphony Orchesta is once again between conductors, last
season and next season have had lots of guest conductors. Oddly, Muti,
in his second season of retirement, will make more appearances in the
upcoming season than he's had in recent seasons.

John Williams is booked for October 22. He's bringing along Anne
Sophie-Mutter. He always wanted to be a classical music composer, so
she'll be playing Violin Concerto No. 2. This will be the first time
it's played at CSO but it's not the piece's world premiere.

His classical music doesn't sound like Korngold.

He'll be conducting music from film scores too.

More like Schoenberg. A lot of it isn't for me. I like more traditional melodies and harmonies in my music.

He'll be conducting music from film scores too.

Maybe I'll try and make it. Any chance you guys can clean up that city and get it under control by October?

I looked it up. She commissioned the work. It premiered at Tanglewood.
    He conducted. July 24, 2021.

This may be the second time it was performed. And possibly the last.

I agree with you. I will listen to Bartok or Shostakovich, but there
aren't too many other modern classical music composers that I can listen
    to.

By cancelling ShotSpotter and high school (police) resource officers,
this allows Brandon Johnson to take a, er, holistic approach to making
    our communities safer.

He never gets to the part of the speech in which he explains what the
next program will be. But he says pretty much the same thing, speech
    after speech after speech.
