Trump is the first sitting or former president to be indicted on felony charges...

Yeah, he's guilty, and everyone knows it! Question is, "Will the
    Chewbacca defense" work:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chewbacca_defense

While it drives Trump nuts to lose lots of his money, what is *really*
eating at him is not his wealth but having to be seen by the entire
World wearing a pair of handcuffs. His ego is SO huge, and the thought
of having his wrists locked in place, unable to free his hands no matter
how hard and/or often he tries, and especially, the public humiliation
that he will experience at the slightest perception of him trying
aimlessly to slip his hands out of handcuffs is too much for him to bear.

That's why Trump is fighting so hard to delay and delay and delay going
to trial, and why he is paying his attorneys tens of millions upon tens
of millions of dollars to try whatever legal trickery that they can come
up with to eventually obfuscate and mislead one or two potential jurors.
For Trump the thought of hearing the two rapid clicking sounds of each ratchet locking itself into the pawl of each cuff followed by that
initial, helpless attempt to free his hands is just too much for him to
bear with his giant, almost cosmic, overinflated ego.

On a side note, the evidence shows that the deterrence to many crimes is
not long jail sentences and/or hefty fines but simply to have criminals
spend some time in handcuffs. For many wrongdoers, this "does the
trick" and they never reoffend again. Maybe if Trump would have gotten arrested decades ago, spending a few hours with his hands locked behind
his back, maybe World history would have turned out differently??

He is still leading the polls.
