I try to bank some soap epies going into the weekend, but I'll only bank
two episodes this week, so I will probably have to uncork watching
    another streaming series this weekend...

    Any, yesterday, I got through:

soaps: DOOL - Nothing really happened this ep. Xander is being held in
the cop shop, and Sarah gets Justin as his lawyer - clearly either
Xander is an incredibly good liar now, or he is being framed (it would
be great if it was revealed that EJ is working for Clyde and framing
Xander, so they can send EJ away to the Clink forever!!). I think pretty
much nothing else important happened, except that Kristen is still
completely delusional and she and Brady got into a massive fight, making
    their crazy daughter even crazier!

I still have never watched "One Night Stand Murder" (directed by
Brittany Underwood!!), so I put on LMN in the background and let it run.
The "reveal" was expected, but the ending was still pretty over-the-top!

She's Obsessed With My Husband (LMN) - This was nothing we haven't seen
before - and I generally dislike movies where the crazy lady sabotages
the other lady's life, but Alissa Filoramo decently makes the psycho
lady "pop" with her performance, and I liked how she (apparently)
murdered her husband in the film's open because he correctly called her
out for being completely nuts!! Also, this movie had a couple of good
scenes with tracking shots of people running or being chased, so the
direction on this one (by Doug Campbell) was also a cut above normal.

    I watched:

Halo (Paramount+) - "Visegrad" - Master Chief takes his team on an
unsanctioned rescue mission. Meanwhile it becomes clear command is well
aware of the impending attack on Reach and plan to cut their losses and
bug out without telling anyone. OK episode, but next week looks like
    we'll finally get some action.

Madame Web (theatrical) New superhero movie (maybe) set in Sony's
spiderverse or whatever they want to call it. Neither Spider-man nor
any other previously established hero appears in this movie. Word on
the street is Sony or whoever lied to the cast and tricked them all into
being in this flick by telling them it was the MCU. The cast was *not*
happy when they learned the truth! Anyway, Dakota Johnson stars as
Madame Web (a name I don't think is ever used in the movie) who thanks
to a spider bite is born with the ability to see the future. This
ability doesn't kick in until the movie's plot require she get this
ability at age 20 something. Dakota is a paramedic who is partnered
with Ben Parker (Adam Scott). Once her ability to see the future kicks
in she starts to see a person with spider-man abilities murder three
teenage girls. She then spends the movie protecting the girls from the
killer by using her ability to see what's going to happen before it
happens. This movie is getting savaged in reviews. Probably well
deserved, but I have a high tolerance for nonsense. That being said, it
took almost an hour before anything happened. When stuff happened it
was sometimes entertaining. But I don't want to give the wrong
impression. This was not a good movie. But it was probably better than Morbius. So it has that going for it.

There are those who would maintain that precognition is what Peter Parker

I’ve never liked the whole conceit that Peter Parker is just another cog in an endless line of mystical spider people and there’s nothing special about him at all so I won’t really be bothered if this movie just goes away.

I was wondering about this myself during the movie. As I recall, the
movie starts in 1978 when Dakota's character is born. Then the movie
jumps to 2003. This would put her at about 25. The movie also depicts
Peter Parker's birth in 2003. I recalled Madame Web from the Spider-Man cartoon where she was clearly an old woman, I'm guessing in her later
60s or 70s. So from that perspective Web's age just wasn't adding up.
But now I see in Wikipedia they claim the character is in her 30s, I'm
guessing to match Dakota's age (she's 34). Except the movie said she
was born in 78 and takes place in 03. So she's not in her 30s! They
were probably hoping to eventually tie Web into the modern day
spiderverse and just make her in her 40s or 50s but played by Dakota.
But now I guess it doesn't matter. The movie made $6 million on opening
day. They are probably going to bury this movie and salt the earth.

the street is Sony or whoever lied to the cast and tricked them all
into being in this flick by telling them it was the MCU. The cast was
*not* happy when they learned the truth!  Anyway, Dakota Johnson stars
as Madame Web (a name I don't think is ever used in the movie) who
thanks to a spider bite is born with the ability to see the future.
This ability doesn't kick in until the movie's plot require she get
this ability at age 20 something.  Dakota is a paramedic who is
partnered with Ben Parker (Adam Scott).  Once her ability to see the
future kicks in she starts to see a person with spider-man abilities
murder three teenage girls.  She then spends the movie protecting the
girls from the killer by using her ability to see what's going to
happen before it happens.  This movie is getting savaged in reviews.
Probably well deserved, but I have a high tolerance for nonsense.
That being said, it took almost an hour before anything happened.
When stuff happened it was sometimes entertaining.  But I don't want
to give the wrong impression.  This was not a good movie.  But it was
probably better than Morbius. So it has that going for it.

I will definitely watch this, when I can, because I like the cast. I may
even end up liking it more than you!

But I bet I will have to wait a long time, as it'll go to Starz first
for a long time before it gets to D+.

I never did get to "Morbius" - it was somewhere (Starz?), then it was on
The Netflix, and then I dropped The Netflix like it's hot! So I never
did see it (but, I would have if I had really wanted to watch it, so
    there's that!...).

P.S. Dakota Johnson has got to be in her *30s* by now, so they're
playing with us if the character is in her 20s! It would like Lily
Collins still trying to pass for 20s!!   ;p

I was wondering about this myself during the movie. As I recall, the
movie starts in 1978 when Dakota's character is born. Then the movie
jumps to 2003. This would put her at about 25. The movie also depicts
Peter Parker's birth in 2003. I recalled Madame Web from the Spider-Man cartoon where she was clearly an old woman,

Yeah, the crone is the only one I’ve ever seen. Wikipedia says there have been several characters using that name and the one in the movie isn’t that one.

    I'm guessing in her later
60s or 70s. So from that perspective Web's age just wasn't adding up.
But now I see in Wikipedia they claim the character is in her 30s, I'm guessing to match Dakota's age (she's 34).

I'm sure it was cut for two parts for syndication, but initially it
    aired on one evening.

Even though it was written by Juanita Bartlett, I really dislike this
episode. Season 6 was weak, but it starts with one of the best episodes
of the series, "Paradise Cove" 9/28/1979, with Mariette Hartley, with
whom James Garner had established great chemistry in that memorable
series of commercials for Polaroid. They're on a treasure hunt. Written
by Stephen J. Cannell. Season 6 was aborted after 11 episodes. Garner
had gotten sick from exhaustion and was ordered by his doctors to take a
break from production. NBC cancelled the show instead.

The story is that James Garner and Lauren Bacall were in the cast of H.E.A.L.T.H. (1980), the Robert Altman movie that studios withheld from
wide distribution. I saw it in college at the student film festival that
served as its Chicago area premiere.

I liked the movie. It had its moments and was somewhat entertaining. For
me, the iconic moment from that movie was Dick Cavett, at night, in his
hotel room after the day at the convention, watching Johnny, whose talk
show was slightly more successful and longer lasting.

In any event, Garner asked Bacall to be a guest star. It's one of her
    very few television performances.

    Bacall still looked gorgeous.

First time I ever saw Bacall was in a TV version of APPLAUSE just a couple years before Rockford. Bacall played an aging actress who is being forced
out of her part by Penny Fuller, but the whole project was a failure
because Bacall was still so mesmerizing and commanded the screen that you didn’t believe for a minute anybody was forcing her out before she wanted
    to go.
