President Joe Biden was slammed on Super Bowl Sunday over a video he
posted to social media ahead of the game that blamed corporations for "shrinkflation".
The remarks from Biden, which he posted from his official government X account, come after years of high interest rates that were triggered in
large part when the Democrat-controlled House and Senate passed his
American Rescue Plan during the first months of his presidency.
"It's Super Bowl Sunday. If you’re anything like me, you like to be surrounded by a snack or two while watching the big game," Biden said
in the video. "You know when buying snacks for the game, you might have noticed one thing: sports drinks bottles are smaller, a bag of chips
has fewer chips, but they're still charging us just as much. As an ice
cream lover what makes me most angry is that ice cream cartons have
actually shrunk in size, not in price."
"I've had enough of what they call shrinkflation. It's a rip off," he continued. "Some companies are trying to pull a fast one by shrinking
the products little by little and hoping you won't notice. Give me a
break. The American public is tired of being played for suckers. I'm
calling on companies to put a stop to this. Let's make sure businesses
do the right thing now."
Biden's video generated widespread mockery and pushback on X, where it
was viewed millions of times.
"Imagine how little respect you must have for voters to try this," said writer Charles C.W. Cooke.
"This is insane," said RealClearPolitics President Tom Bevan. "Biden is getting some really terrible advice."
Seattle-based conservative radio host Jason Rantz posted on X: "Joe
Biden couldn't do a Super Bowl interview because it would have been
past his bedtime, but he did have time to post a propaganda video
hoping you won't realize shrinkflation is a result of inflation
courtesy of Bidenomics."
"Nobody believes this," said podcast host Stephen L. Miller.
"Shrinkflation is just a way to hide prices going up," said writer
Jordan Schachtel. "Without it, the economic shitshow becomes much more obvious."
"Act of desperation to shift the blame for inflation away from his
policies," another popular Twitter account said. "Just 'excess
corporate profit' scam in different wrapping. I bet this doesn't see
the light of day after today and they rely on it just going viral
without officially pushing it anywhere."

The ice cream shop I go to sells it by the pint and quart, so they
legally can't shrink the cartons. If they claim they're selling a pint,
it has to actually be a pint or they run afoul of deceptive trade laws.

This guy blames all the crap his policies generate on someone else.
The border: Not my fault! I threw open the doors and refused to stop
anyone from entering illegally and sued any state that tried to stop
them... but the millions that flooded in? Not my fault!
Inflation: Not my fault! I printed and spent trillions like a drunken
sailor, literally just handing out money for free, then when the result
that every Economics for Dummies book says will happen happened, it's
not my fault! It's those evil corporations who now have to choose
between jacking up their prices or putting a few less chips in the bag.
Not my fault!
Afghanistan: Not my fault! I had to pull out from there because Orange
Man Bad before me set a deadline and rather than change it, like I did
all his border policies, and take the time to exit properly, I did a
half-ass job that got soldiers killed and left billions of dollars of
weapons and materiel in the hands of the Taliban. Not my fault!
