    From Ian J. Ball@21:1/5 to All on Fri Feb 9 06:03:20 2024
Yesterday, I got home and had a nice long afternoon nap (that I clearly needed!) so that impacted the TV I got through, which wasn't much...:

soaps: GH - Wed's(?) ep. The "funeral" for Spencer (but we know he's not dead!), was mostly predictable - e.g. Cameron Webber shows up for it
(but, oddly, not NuNuNuMolly). But then Kevin and lil' Lizzie head over
to Esme's (literal!) pauper's/potter's field grave - this lead to a
pretty amusing scene when (Nu)Heather Webber shows up, and lauds Liz for
being an "angel" to Esme (huh?!!), and castigates Kevin for her death!
Later, Cyrus shows up at the reception for Spencer, but Laura will only
hear him out before sending him on his way! Meanwhile, Willow continues
to be a detestable marshmallow as she seems ready to take Michael back. (Blech!)

Wheel of Fortune (Pluto TV & local affiliate in the evening) - I was
humiliated by Wheel contestants (e.g. solving puzzles off one letter!)
all day long, but I did solve the final puzzle in the evening "live"
    epie!! :)

Tall, Dark and Dangerous (LMN) - Another "Hybrid special" (I almost feel
like putting "[sic]" after that!). This broke absolutely no new ground,
and had all of the usual Hybrid tropes on display - e.g. I'm 100% sure
that Eric Roberts' scenes (and possibly Jackee's as well) were all
filmed in isolation, and then "edited together" with the scenes of the
people they were supposed to be talking to (this Hybrid trope is
becoming tedious!!). The one thing I did like here was that Jasmine
Aivaliotis was in the supporting cast, though I dunno if I like her new "non-frizzy" hairstyle nearly as much... Anyway, this flick isn't
anything you haven't already seen on Lifetime before, and done better
    before!

While investigating a country priest's murder, Jules is lured to a
secret base of the League of Darkness, where they are creating a flying
ship called the Prometheus. Jules accepts a commission at the behest of
the ship's beautiful commander to end the American Civil War, unaware of
the League's true purpose. The others come to investigate and the Aurora
is taken captive. Rebecca discovers that the League plans to use both
ships to help the Confederacy win the Civil War, while Phileas confronts
the League's leader, the centuries-old "cybernetic" Count Gregory. Jules
is forced to choose between following the commander and the League or
    Rebecca and his friends.

This is another one of those “when the hell is this taking place again?“ Episodes as Verne would’ve been about twice as old in our reality at the
time of the American Civil War as he is in the show.

At this point I'm understanding why this was a one season show. Its not horrible and they are getting some good actors as guest stars but it
wasn't great and you can tell they were operating on a pinch-penny
budget for production. If you pay attention it is amazing how much time
they spend in large closets. ;) I'm guessing all the budget (that
wasn't lining some producers' pockets) went in to paying for HD filming
    and the guest stars.

Could be worth watching for Roberts and Jackee. And what's taking them
so long to crank out another Stalked by my Doctor movie? Or even turn
it into a TV series. Each week he stalks a different patient!

    I watched:

    Halo (Paramount+) - "Sanctuary" - Season 2 premier - Picking up six
months after the finale Master Chief and his team have been sidelined by
the new person in charge (Klaus from The Vampire Diaries).

    "Sword" - Episode 2 - I can't say I fully followed everything that
happened in this episode. But I guess it was OK.

Lisa Frankenstein (theatrical) new horror comedy written by Diablo Cody
about a teenage girl in the 80s who falls for the reanimated corpse of a teenage heartthrob who died during the Victorian era. They go on a
killing spree for parts to turn the corpse into a proper boyfriend. I
didn't care much for this. The movie desperately wanted to be "Edward Scissorhands" but lacks the charm. I read one review that said the
movie felt as if it was written to be an "R" rated instead of PG-13 and
I think I agree. I'm not saying it would have been better as "R" but I definitely got the feeling that they were holding back and not showing everything that was shot.
