I found much of this episode off putting. Clara (Harriet Slater),
already polyannish about her ability to repair the rift between her
husband and his brother, makes matter worse this week by continuing the
fight she's having with Frederick. She may think her husband is
irratiaonal but these are his feelings and his history and she cannot
fix the wrongs done to him. As far as the brother, well, his "gift" a
couple of weeks earlier did dredge up bad memories about a physical
fight Frederick had with their father during what was supposed to be
swordplay (with wooden broadswords) as a little boy. I still think James
    is aware of Frederick's parentage.

Clara, who had been quite intelligent, got all emotional and childish
and made it about her. She might try to have some patience. After all,
we're talking about several decades of very hard feelings. He won't
    change instantly.

We aren't told about why the Marquise, setting up a business venture in
Mexico that would open a silver mine, is being highly selective about
her investors. Perhaps she isn't quite the brilliant business woman and
this is entirely speculative or a scam.

Clara used the fight she continued with her husband as the excuse to
allow herself to think about possible romance with (quack?) Doctor
Ellerby; she goes to see his "art" and the mother of the patient
(implied to be his lover last week) who is posing for him, clothed.

In a nice moment, the Duchess orders the nurse NOT to sedate their
oldest son, now under the care of the OTHER quack doctor. He has no idea
what caused the epilepsy nor how to treat it, but keeping the kid
sedated for much of the day at least helps to keep him out of sight. The
Duke, taking advantage that the boy is awake, for once chooses not to
ignore him. He spends time reading to him and even lets the boy try to
read parts of the book. I'm not sure he'd being educated at all.

There's a weird moment in a Turkish bath and possibly an explanation as
to how Frederick's business manager gets some insider information. But
    the scene cuts off.
