She fell into the dumpster at her apartment complex? No, I don't
believe it for a minute. She climbed in, then couldn't climb out
again before the garbage truck arrived. She must have seen something
inside that she wanted to retrieve. She lied.
Probably. I suppose there's a remote chance she was putting something
in the back, slipped on some ice, and then fell in but that seems
pretty unlikely. I think your suggestion is more plausible.
It's not going to keep her from suing for P.I.
If she wins, it's going to cost the garbage collection industry many
millions of dollars because there will be a call for the trucks to be redesigned so that kind of incident can't happen. That won't be cheap
and will require an expensive retrofit of new equipment to existing
trucks or their replacement by newer trucks of a different design. The insurance companies, at the very least, will push for this to limit
their liability and raise their premiums dramatically to pressure the
industry to act. That means garbage collection gets more expensive for
EVERYONE just because of this woman's bad choice of getting too close
to the machinery.
