Dolly Parton floated the idea of a possible reboot to the popular 90s TV show “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” a project she was involved with originally as an uncredited producer — on the TV show and movie by the same name.

The 78-year-old singer told Business Insider that behind the scenes, “They’re still working on that,” though it’s unclear if any of the original cast
members like Sarah Michelle Gellar or Seth Green will be involved.

“They’re thinking about bringing it back and revamping it,” Parton said about her production company, Sandollar Productions and Sandollar Television, which produced the original series and the movie, along with co-producing the
    spinoff series “Angel.”

The superstar singer said while she was “very involved” in the show, she credited others with making it a success, as the original TV series was
filmed in Los Angeles, with Parton living in Nashville at the time, the
    Insider noted.

“A lot of my work was done just conversing back and forth with the business people there,” the “9 to 5” star said.

“I have to give more people more credit on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ than
me,” she added. “A lot of people did so much sweat on that. That little show did great.”

The Joss Whedon-created cult-classic movie hit the big screen in 1992, and in 1997, he created the TV series that became a hit. It ended up running on the WB/UPN for 7 seasons, the New York Post noted.

Speaking on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last year, Gellar confirmed Parton’s involvement in the popular show.

“We never saw her. We’d get Christmas gifts in the beginning that would have her name, and I would think, ‘She doesn’t know who I am,'” Gellar told the host.

“Then one day, someone asked her about it, and she complimented the show and
my performance,” she added. “And I was like, ‘Oh, I can die now. Dolly Parton knows who I am and thinks I’m good.'”

Despite Gellar’s pride in the hit series, she made it clear she’s not a fan
of a reboot that would involve her reprising the role.

“I am very proud of the show that we created and it doesn’t need to be done,” the 46-year-old actress told SFX magazine via Movieweb in January 2023. “We wrapped that up.”

“I am all for them continuing the story, because there’s the story of female empowerment,” she added. “I love the way the show was left: ‘Every girl who
has the power can have the power.’ It’s set up perfectly for someone else to have the power.”

“But like I said, the metaphors of ‘Buffy’ were the horrors of adolescence,” Gellar continued. “I think I look young, but I am not an adolescent.”
