David Wayne had a good career in TV, including The Twilight Zone. I'm >particularly fond of his run on Ellery Queen.
My favorite David Wayne comedy role was... he portrayed
a hobo with the street, err, rail name of "Boston"
on a Mannix episode.
Some Bad Guys are trying to kill him. Cops shitcan his
report. Mannix takes a shine to his character, takes
the case, and puts him up in a "safe house" - namely
a pretty low class but functional hotel.
Wayne sneaks out because... some people came by who
looked suspicious [a].
Why? "They had matching socks and clean fingernails".
[a] obFUKYOUMETV: In the interests of PC GARBAGE, MeTv
censors out lots of dialog. They also use computerized
censoring of the "closed captioning".
Which led to "suspicious" becoming "suXXXXious".
Yes, with capital "X"s.
Don't get me started on a similat broadcast
of the musical "Oliver", where one of the
key characters is named "Fagin".
Eyup. "XXXin".
