    We wondered if the 'assistant/nurse' who was sitting on the floor too
    was actually his trainer/owner. I'll miss him!

    But, spoiler, there will be another dog around in a while, as well as David ( do
    we ever see that one? he does get a mention) or Peanut. Though not with Evelyn. ;-)

    Probably for the same reason that you often see babies looking off
    camera - their mums are standing out of shot but where the baby can see
    them and know that everything is all right.

    You do, though with babies as they interact with the same cast members all the time presumably become comfortable with them, and the same as dogs - until you introduce a stranger, and they both need reassurance.
