Greetings and welcome to another week of words from Weatherfield. And so, without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Coronation Street update.
As Corrie gears up for its 60th anniversary, lots of storylines fizz and spark, ready to explode on the cobbles next week. The main story to celebrate the big anniversary will be a race to save the street from demolition by sleazy Ray and his business
partners, who want to knock the street down and build a soulless development. Well, the residents of Coronation Street are not having that! Meetings are held and the locals try to stop evil Ray’s plan from going ahead. Ah, but will they succeed? Well,
Roy discovers that the old brewery on the street was where the suffragettes used to meet and it could be a building of historical interest, which the council will have to protect. Will it be enough to stop Ray’s plan for world domination, one cobble at
a time? Tune in next week to find out!
Elsewhere this week, sleazy Ray calls a business meeting in his hotel room and invites Faye to attend. She turns up to find Ray in his dressing gown, his outfit of choice it seems, when it comes to seducing women who really should know better. He tells
Faye if she wants to keep her job, she needs to sleep with him. Next thing you know, Faye’s in his bed and they’ve done the deed. Oh, Faye.
In other news this week, Yasmeen’s trial starts and both Yasmeen and Elaine take the stand. Elaine gives evidence against Geoff the day after he broke into the psychiatric ward at the hospital where she was receiving treatment and threatened her. Will
her evidence be enough to bring evil Geoff down? What with sleazy Ray and evil Geoff, this week has been full of nasty men. In court Geoff reads out the affirmation that he’ll tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth and then goes on
to lie through his teeth. I can’t have been the only fan who punched the air with delight when Elaine found the inner strength to testify against her ex-husband.
Over in Victoria Gardens, a celebration of Oliver’s life is held before his funeral takes place. Grief-stricken Leanne manages to lose her temper when Nick’s son Sam arrives, uninvited. She finishes her relationship with Nick and says she’ll move
out of their flat. Meanwhile, Nick and Sam chat about Oliver in a very moving scene and Sam pulls a poem out of his pocket that he’s written for his little brother that he will never know.
