• STAGECOACH (1939)

From Bill Anderson@21:1/5 to All on Thu Jun 30 10:43:27 2022
So it was just me and a 16-year-old kid stuck here at home yesterday
afternoon. He was temporarily tired of his computer game and wondered what
else we might do and I tried to think of a great movie to watch. Something
he had never seen, but would be sure to like. KING KONG? “No, I don’t like black-and-white movies.“

    How about a western? STAGECOACH?

    What’s it about?

So I give him the basic rundown and described all the characters (he had
heard of John Wayne) and he allowed that that sounded pretty good.

    “But it’s in black-and-white.”

“I don’t care. Westerns are different.“

Well OK, so we watched it and he declared that it was one of the best
movies he had ever seen in his life. Which of course would be true for most anybody who isn’t Apache, but it was really refreshing to see a Marvel fan recognize that fact.

I’m not going to give up on KING KONG, though. One of these days I expect
him to have a similar epiphany.

Very perceptive of you. I tried, but he insists he has already seen it.

Thanks. Just look at the names of the contributors to that thread, so many
of which we no longer see. I know David Oberman has passed away. Not sure
    about others.

I didn't know about David, always a worthwhile contributor.

Sorry to hear about David. We didn't really get along but I appreciated the level of dispute.

When, exactly? I looked around and he was apparently alive in 2021.

My apologies all around, you are correct. I was thinking of Dave M.

David Matthews passed away in November, 2015.
