    Wow. If Susan could've done that we'd have had a whole different movie I >guess maybe. Nice aria, though.
    It's a mark of how powerful the conception in the movie is that, when
    we hear the aria straight, we can still hear Susan's squirmingly
    embarrassing vocal shortcomings.

    The musical writing itself has, to me, always sounded like bits of
    "Die Frau ohne Schatten" or the Franco Alfano climaxes from
    "Turandot."

    This is nothing to do with Salammbo but still with Herrmann and John Wilson in another Proms performance, this time of some "Psycho" cues. Wilson matches exactly the movie soundtrack in his tempos ... and listen out for the audience reaction to the "
