• What's up with Mullholland Drive?

    From h hrh@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jan 12 07:47:23 2022
What gives with this film, and why is it considered really great? I don't get it.
I watched it once, and it was difficult. I watched it again, and just could not get through it. I like Lynch films such as TPFWWM, Blue Velvet, Dune, etc. But MD?

I got bored with Blue Velvet the first time I watched it. Tried
again, but I can't stand Dennis Hopper's acting. I think he is vastly over-rated.

I like Mullholland Dr. fairly well, it's been in my library for a while.

I found a Blu-ray of Lynch's Dune cheap at Goodwill a few weeks ago.
I'll let you have it if you want to send me a pre-paid mailer, lol.

I liked BV. Hopper's acting was maybe over the top, but still enjoyable. He's a good director. Colors. Way excellent. Hopper was way out there in Apocolypse Now. Most excellent. True, a tad over the top, but very enjoyable.

Just checking out his filmography. I have seen him in other films,
but he is just so-so and doesn't impress me. Oscar nomination in
"Hoosiers", but I don't watch sports films.

I don't either but Hoosiers is worth it.

Very good film, and I didn't mind the basketball sequences.

Hopper deserved the nomination; I have a new respect for him, but only
    for this film.

    Thanks for the heads up.
