When Simon Callow was taken as a child to see "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" he not only became a Charles Laughton fan, the performance also inspired him to take up acting as a career himself. In 1987, he paid tribute to Laughton with an hour-long TV
documentary which included clips from various films, plus interviews with Rex Harrison, Robert Mitchum and Peter Ustinov.
As it often pops up on TV, I suppose "Four Weddings and a Funeral" provided Callow with one of his best-known roles, as he was the one who provided the funeral. That scene also featured John Hannah giving a moving reading of W. H. Auden's "Funeral Blues"
