This is probably considered heresy by many but, my
favorite Charlie Chan was Sidney Toler.

    Favorite film of his?

    Castle in the Desert.

Turns out it was his last "Big Budget" Chan film, and
the last with 20th Century Fox.

Warner Oland is not buried far from here. I'm ashamed
to admit it, but I once took a walk through the cemetery
in which he's buried but just couldn't find the grave! I
keep promising myself that I'll go back, but it's been like
a decade and I still haven't done it...

As I later posted: I found the grave! I paid homage to Warner
    Oland. I even left flowers!

And it is shocking but Charlie Chan is offensive to the "Woke"
generation. Which is kind of weird, as the films portray a
racial minority as the smartest man in the room...

Yes, they also employed black comedians and are denounced
as racists for that reason. But they were hired to attract a
    black audience, and they worked!

"Times change." I get it. But people don't. Everyone is as closed
    minded as ever...

Funny fact. At the time, Charlie Chan was a hit in China and they greeted the actor with honors. On the other hand, they hated Anna May Wong because she usually played disreputable characters,
