The main difference between #2 and #3 is: one is born, the other is made.

So what I'm wondering is: was the late Henry Hill ("Goodfellas"), born or made? (Pardon the expression.)

After all, what the movie didn't mention was that in school, in the benighted 1950s, his teachers likely thought he was stupid (which he certainly wasn't, compared to other gangsters) and treated him badly. Why? Back then, they had never heard of
dyslexia, which he had, and so he didn't learn to read and write until he was about 20 (long after he'd dropped out).

Of course, living next door to all the rich, high-living gangsters was the main reason he fell in with them. But at the same time, those gangsters made the neighborhood a pretty safe place to live in, IIRC. One could argue that the other kids in that
area grew up to be mostly good citizens mainly because they were living in a relatively crime-free neighborhood! (Plus, of course, they wanted to live long lives, which you typically don't get to do, as a gangster.)

So that particular environment worked both for and against young people's development.

Again, was Hill a psychopath or sociopath?
