Many scenes in the Lord of the Rings movies that
were put back in the Extended Editions.

The proper ending and supporting scenes that were
put back in The Butterfly Effect director's cut.

Several important scenes, including the ending, that
Ayn Rand took out of the unauthorized pair of 1942 Italian
movies made from her book, 'We the Living'. The removed
scenes were all true to the book, but she removed
them to limit the single resulting movie to 3 hours.
Some propaganda scenes, inserted by the Italian
government, also were removed. The resulting movie,
'We the Living', was not generally released until 1986,
    four years after Rand's death.

    Concerning Takashi Shimura:

    - Kurosawa wrote the part in Kagemusha specifically for Shimura, but the scenes were cut from the Western release, so many in the West did not know that he had been in the film. The DVD release of the film by The Criterion Collection restored Shimura's
    footage.
