This is the first time there have been two MT VOIDs a week apart with
no other rasff posts between them. Sigh. Has nothing been going on
    in fandom?

    I, TARZAN (2017): I, TARZAN (a.k.a. "I, TARZAN": A TRUE STORY,
a.k.a. I, TARZAN: WHAT IF IT WERE TRUE?) is an hour-long
"mockumentary" which starts with the assumption that Tarzan was
real.  (This is not an original approach; Sherlock Holmes fans
have been doing this for decades.)  Various Tarzan scholars and
fans  show off their collections and talk about Tarzan's origins
and life.  For example, Philip Jose Farmer says that Edgar Rice
Burroughs purposely concealed the true location of Tarzan's home.
Burroughs says it is 1500 miles north of Capetown, but there are
no gorillas that far south.  Farmer somehow determines where the
    actual location was.

Does Farmer address how Tarzan learned to speak English when he had
access only to written and printed materials?

When first contacted, Tarzan couldn't speak English. He could
read and write it, but not speak or understand it.

The French ship captain he rescued taught him French, but not
English. So, for a while, he could speak and understand
French, but not read or write it, and could read and write
English, but not speak or understand spoken English.

This amusing dilema ended quickly, as he had the superpower
of being able to learn a new language in about two pages.

Naturally, since he was of royal blood, hence genetically superior.

Burroughs was a man of his time.

Which is especially amusing when you think of all the genetic problems
people of royal blood actually had.

Heh... Thinking of Sir Roger trying to explain the concept of
royal blood to the aliens in "The High Crusade". They thought
the humans were doing genetic engineering to improve themselves.

    Yeah, not so much.

Wasn't that about the time destitute British nobles marrying the
children (daughters mostly) of wealthy Americans started?
