This Was Gillette's Flagship Razor 1953 – 1955, It is the only U.S. made razor to feature Rhodium plating (except one other razor, the 1949-1950 Gillette Executive).
Here for your consideration is a 1953 Gillette President Refurbished Re-Plated Razor Y1. Its' date code is Y3, meaning it was made in the first quarter of that year. It has a one-piece twist to open (TTO) design. It Is Fully Re-Plated, in Rhodium. This
razor is in Refurbished Re-Plated Condition. The underside of the head, top, says "REG U.S. / PAT. OFF. / [date code]," and the underside, bottom, says "[Gillette diamond logo] / MADE IN U.S.A." The razor's weight is 67 g / 2.36 oz.
The case is in Very Good Condition with a bit of vintage Ware (see pictures) the silver piping that goes around the edge of the box is in Fantastic Condition, the hinges are also in great condition and work as they should closing the case with a snap.
The inside of the case is in Excellent Condition, there is a small amount of staining but nothing too horrific (see pictures).
The handle is fully knurled, including the band above the TTO knob. Aesthetically it is very similar to the Diplomat, but with nickel/rhodium instead of gold, representing the high end of this razor family. It is a solid and relatively heavy razor, and
its shaving aggressiveness is similar to that of a Red Tip Super Speed. It is perfect for the combination of heavy beard and sensitive skin.

This Beautiful Gillette President is Essentially a Brand-New Razor! The razor was completely disassembled, cleaned, repaired if necessary, re-plated and reassembled. The weight is 67 grams. It is absolutely gorgeous, completely clean and shiny, without
any other defects. Mechanically it is perfect, with the doors opening and closing smoothly and firmly. The 1953 version of the President is considered the most aggressive of the Presidents, and has been compared to a Red Tip in terms of aggressiveness.
Gillette was constantly tweaking the blade angles on razors during the early fifties, so you don't know exactly what you are going to get until the razor meets the face.
