Vaccination against chickenpox has been remarkably effective at
reducing incidence of the disease. So effective that doctors in the US
are losing their ability to tell it apart from other diseases <

Some of those diagnosed with chickenpox in fact had a rash-causing
enterovirus infection, or herpes (cold sores), or something else.
Or perhaps, really, their ability to tell them apart was never that

such misdiagnosis was less common, so not a big deal. But now the
false positives are starting to become a concern, and so the doctors
need to update their skills accordingly.
