    Just how damaging to democracy is the venal press like Stuff? Massively, I believe.
    We should not pay any news outlets from government funds unless they are are non-partisan and the Media Council or similar ensures that they are. Stuff is hugely biased, they love government money.

    Correct. The Government should not be subsidising private industry.

    This is a measure of the number of organisations interested in NZ
    politics and it seems there is no shortage of them. While a number of
    them are owned offshore or local offices of offshore publishers there
    is still enough NZ-owned publishers. This means if Stuff or NZME
    failed there only be a major impact on print media - not political
    commentary.
