    And what the people want.

Some folks are not yet up to speed that a Government forms
by 2 or more parties under MMP. So what each party says it will do gets modified by the negotations to form the Government.

As the agreements have been published in the public domain we can see what
has been changed. Long may that continue.

From the ACT / Nat agreement, under "Health":
"Allow the sale of cold medication containing pseudoephedrine."

    From Google:
Can you get pseudoephedrine in New Zealand?
"The Government banned over-the-counter sales of pseudoephedrine in

Rich is looking at actions that the new Government is taking from the
point of view of rabid enmity. I expect that he will continue along
the lines started with this thread - ignoring the fact that the new
government is doing what its constituent parties said they would.

    And what the people want.

Some folks are not yet up to speed that a Government forms
by 2 or more parties under MMP. So what each party says it will do gets >>modified by the negotations to form the Government.

And some of those changes are good - raising funds for tax cuts
through encouraging foreign purchases of expensive houses in New
Zealand would have been disastrous - as well as not raising enough
money for the tax cuts anyway. Good on NZ First for insisting on that
change, although I suspect National are grateful for not having to
admit it would never have raised enough money anyway.

The subject of a four year term has now been raised by more than just
Labour and National. I suspect this may have been a similar attempt at >distraction as Key's flag referendum however; and deliberate worldwide >actions over the last ten years or so by the Right (e.g. in the UK,
USA and Australia as well as New Zealand) to reduce trust in
    government will kill that idea.

As the agreements have been published in the public domain we can see what >>has been changed. Long may that continue.

Publishing them will have little impact - many will not see the light
of day due to other priorities; and that is anticipated in the wording
of quite a few, but National had no options but to publish - both
Peters and Seymour knew that nothing would happen on any of them
unless they were published. The underlying issue is that the decline
in support for both National and Labour has led us towards more
parties having a real presence in parliament. I think that is good -
and I believe a pre-condition of moving to four years would be to do
away with the 5% threshold. Yes that would result in more crazies
being elected, but we have seen that in other countries - Australia
has coped for example - but it would ensure that a wider set of views
would be seen in parliament - and that may in itself help us better >understand the need for tolerating different viewpoints and to
''sell'' policies more carefully. ACT has been very clever in
promoting the "libertarian" right to express abhorrent views, while >maintaining a stricter gag in their own MPs than other parties to
ensure that the only ACT views were through the double-speak careful
    script of Seymour.
I believe National insisted on publishing them, Peter's is unlikely to have wanted it and Seymour probably doesn't care.
Your words are snide attacks on a government yet to show failures.

governments policies are rolled out. I see now in the media the left >>crying that the new policies will kill people and cause loss of jobs.
    Sore losers I guess.
They are driven by hate and despair. We all should give the new government a >chance. I did for the last two but they let us all down really badly.

Smoking does kill, and that will increase as stupid young people get
addicted - all due to opening up the market. It will be interesting to
see how many retailers decide that they do not wish to take the risks
of ram raids and violent thefts , but I do feel sorry for anyone that
gets emphysema - I know one person going through that at present; it
is a horrible disease. I cannot understand a government essentially
putting a reduction in tax ahead of the lives of New Zealanders.

Do you agree with that policy change, Tony?

Yes I do because the Labour plan was never going to work and would have just as big an incentive for ram raids as any other legislation that I have heard of - therefore destroying your fatuous argument which is actually just political bull.

Spin away all you like. Lie as much as always but here is the truth.
You object to the change because it suits you to do so for purely political reasons. You don't actually give a damn about our kids.
I care about the kids that will start to smoke and the Labour plan did nothing to stop that - it would never work because cigarettes will still be available regardless, merely more expensive and underground.
    We need something significantly better.
Your are a fool if you think your faux caring for our children's children is believed by anybody - no, you are politically grandstanding - that is all - just politics - you are a sham and quite evil.

And this government is going to become even more popular by, you know, doing what they said they were going to do. A bit of a mysterious concept to lefties who spring unpopular surprises after being elected then act all surprised and confused when they
    get tossed out like garbage.

Rich is going to implode over the next few months as the new
governments policies are rolled out. I see now in the media the left
crying that the new policies will kill people and cause loss of jobs.
    Sore losers I guess.

The media are just melting down over the government doing what they promised. And because the people asked for it, they will be happy, and the feeling that the NZ media are useless lefty shills will get stronger and stronger.
    Die, MSM. Die!
